This was around early 70's , I had a huge crush on Linda , and I dug Glenn too . Long Time was one of my favorite Stone Ponys songs , I was only 14 when it came out . Carolina on my mind was a great song too IMO

She's not what you would call a "Songbird" but no one could belt out a tune like Janis.

Song hits set a high bar to cover. I enjoy Linda's work and have some of her stuff.

Richards pre-zombie days.

Not a fan of C&W but LeAnn could convert me.

Cowboy Junkie for life.

Check out Ronee Blakely singing " dues" from the movie "nashville" . even the most rabid country music haters will have a hankering for pecan pie after watching it

Cowboy Junkies remind me of The Band. Great musicianship, eclectic instrumentation, and most importantly, a great unified sound with nobody trying to outplay the others or grab center stage.

Levon had exactly that problem with Robbie in The Last Waltz.

It's hilarious that this thread is still going. Everyone had a crush on her it seems. I get it now looking at the old pics. To me, she was just the singer of annoying pop songs. I suppose I was too young then. Now Chrissie Hynde I can understand. First heard the Pretenders on cassette on the way to (juniors) bike races. (to bring it back OT ) Pretty much everyone was mesmerized by her voice. Didn't even know what she looked like at that point.

We mostly listened to punk. There should probably be a thread on the connection with bike racing and punk at that time, because there was one, or at least an association.

I was never a Linda fan either. Chrissie Hynde and Stevie Nicks were a different story.
And then there was Margot. How could you not fall in Love with her?

C'mon you guys. The Grant Petersen thread is up to 13 pages and Linda only has 11.
You can do better than that!

I don't think he acted any different than any other Lead Guitarist. Never understood Helms problem.

Just taking the pee out of previous Canadian references

Loved Cocteau Twins.

The downside of 80's women singers had to be Bananarama.
