I happened on this page "One Man Show Bike Developer" from someone in Bangkok who apparently built a "Brompton meets Birdy", which uses a copy of the Brompton frame, and has a double chain ring + derailleur:

It sells for US$350.

These are photos from our 18 mile ride through a swamp headed to Virginia Beach. We, and our Origami Crane 8 models, ended up pretty muddy, but we had fun. We found a good pizza place with outdoor seating (we were too dirty to go inside) and a nice spot to store our bikes and trailer while we ate.
The ride back was even more eventful because a red fox attacked my wife's bike while she was pushing it through some deep loose sand on a hill. Thankfully, she was on the left side of the bike when the fox attacked the derailleur.

I have a second one I'm planning on swapping the bottom bracket on, and the chainring and pedal arms as well. That will be a real custom PedalFlow.
As for the ride, you start like a scooter, and pedal like riding a bike. It's similar to riding a scooter for the coasting, but so is a bike. It's basically a scooter with pedals, and a coaster brake. You'd need to try one out to really form an opinion. And the gearing is definitely too high when the rear cog isn't swapped out.
It is fun though!!!

I swapped out the rear cog. It was a 12t, and I put a 19t on there. It was too darn slow. Now, I put a 16t cog on, and it's pretty much just right. I also opened up almost everything, except the bottom bracket (I don't have the right tools,...yet), and greased everything up. I gave it new pedals as well. The stock ones didn't even have bearings.
