19 miles this afternoon. Encountered wet roads early on but the rain missed me.

It is about 10 miles round trip with some mild elevation spots and 3 bridges to cross. I couldn't believe how effortless riding the Raleigh is, and I like sitting up right, rather than hunching over. This is my first Ladies bike because in the past, I always would ride whatever was a hand me down, first the racer that one of my customers sold me cheaply, and I forgot the brand of that bike, and then Dad's. I felt like Mary Poppins, and I didn't think I would go as far as I did, but the riding was so easy and fun, the path was not that busy yet, and the weather was fantastic. Looking forward to a repeat tomorrow.
Know your limits so you can continue the new found enjoyment. 'Tis better to venture out a comfortable distance, turn around and return to the starting point only to venture out once again if your body allows it, than to venture too far out at first and have a headwind batter you all the way back reducing the enjoyment of the total ride.

Passed on from experience.

32 miles Friday. 78° S Wind 18 mph gusts 24 mph. Solo ride on a rural route that I don't get to ride much.

41 miles today with the Early Risers Group from the LBS. 81° S Wind 16 mph gusting 26 mph. We are getting a lot of hot wind the last week from Oklahoma.

I was wanting to get a ride in this morning, but I promised my best friend I would help him move some furniture today. We were originally going to do it in the afternoon, but with the weatherman saying rain, we did it in the morning. Got back and started messing with a bad hard drive on my server and lost track of time. No ride and no rain.

Yep, rode 40 miles this morning with my neighbor, on the Silver Comet Trail, from Powder Springs to just past Brushy Mountain Tunnel. Great way to start my 51st birthday celebration!

Rode 20 miles today. Since I am a beginning cyclist, that's good for me. The last 4 miles were a killer since I ran out of water, but I still feel fantastic!

Rode the New Jersey Dept. of Transportation route called "The Last Covered Bridge Ride" which covered 49 miles of hills and valleys and beautiful scenery in central New Jersey. My legs are shot!

Did a easy 5.2 miles today with my Wife she's still getting used to riding so I tried to concentrate on spinning a high cadence, she was much more confident today so it was a good ride for both of us.

Welcome to BF TigerRag, and to the 50+ gang. Our daughter lives in Cabbage Town and rides regularly, the Silver Comet is a favorite for her. I got in a nice late afternoon ride today. The temperatures have been really moderate here, not a complaint on that either.

Back was bugging me last night and I took a full dose of muscle relaxer, ½ at first and the rest an hour later. I wasn't going to risk riding, partly in the dark as well, while muscle relaxers were in full force. Almost didn't even get up, but laundry needed doing. Checked the forecast and the rain prediction was pushed back to the afternoon. After all the laundry was done and dried, I put on my gear and did a 24 mile ride fighting the wind. What's with the wind in June!?!

Rode today for the first time since Thursday. Did 13.2 miles according to google maps. Turns out my first couple of rides were right at 7 miles. Patiently waiting for my Cat-eye Strada Double Wireless to arrive so I can accurately log my mileage.

Wore biking shorts for the first time. When I put them on it felt like I had a load in my pants. Riding with them was pretty nice though. No sore bum at the end of the ride.

The riding is a lot easier and much more pleasant than it was when I started a week ago Saturday. I think I am hooked! =D

41 miles today on a club ride starting northeast of Indy. Mostly flat but a few rollers - only needed the small ring once.
Rode past this bridge near Pendleton - don't know it's history.

Did I mention that it was hot and humid?

JanMM, that sure looks like a bridge to nowhere. Or over nothing. Interesting. I wonder what its history would tell us.

We managed our usual 32 miles in familiar territory, It was hot and humid, ended the day in the low 90's with dew points in the high 60's. Very oppressive.

A required stop:

Made up for yesterday's no ride day and did a birthday ride with my buddy Frank. 66 miles with sunny, blue skies and a nice wind to cool you down while you were moving.

Sadly, no, and I didn't realize how wiped out I would be after my first 10 mile ride in sun and heat, forgetting sunscreen and bug protection, but I am not burned or bitten, just way tired. I am surprised my shoulders are more tired than my legs, but first thing this am the legs were. My brain was foggy as well, but I kept the AC off in the heat until this afternoon, and this may have something to do with some of the effects. In my heart and soul, I want to go out tomorrow, and I will report then, if or not. I am opted for yes.

Yes, riding a bike can be a bigger upper-body workout than many people expect. (It's even more for the captain of a tandem!)

Second day after surgery. Woke up at 0245 this morning then out the door by 0319 for a 5K speed-walk. The moon was awesome with the air humid, warm and still. Out again at 1436 on the grocery-grabber with dark clouds on the horizon towards the east. Purchased the goods I needed but spent too much time looking because rumbles of thunder were audible as I left the store. At 1.5 mile from house the sky opened up. Got home and jumped into the pool to dry off. 11.4 miles of bicycling cut short because of rain.

48 miles on the trails. Man it was hot and humid in Chicagoland. I got caught short of home by 8 mi when an unexpected thunderstorm blew in and I was unprepared so had my wife pick me up.

39.5 miles, 2700' of climbing, my once-a-week ride. This included a 2.5 mile climb averaging 9.1%, most of which was hard-packed gravel, not the ideal surface for a 25mm-tired road bike. The weather was simply great.

What muscle relaxer do you take? Do you find that it ever effects your balance? I take Baclophen sometimes, if I stay on it, it makes my balance lousy.

Road bike on a calm cool evening- 22 Km in just over 40 minutes = just under 20 mph

Now to increase the distance and keep the pace. School is done on Wednesday, so should be able to step up the training.
