66.5 miles today at the Tour de (green) Leaves out of Tryon, NC. Not much color down that way yet. NealH and I did the distance under overcast skies but no rain, which had threatened at the start. The route had about 5400ft of climbing over the distance which I rode in 4:30. This one will have to count as my birthday ride because I won't get a chance to ride any long distance during the week.

48.5 miles with 3400' of climbing most of which was in one climb. I've got exactly one month to my birthday ride (68 miles) and I don't want to wimp out with a "flatish" ride. The club ride had two more good size climbs remaining, but I ran out of time. Could only have done one more climb in any event.

The one climb on this ride is a bear, at least for us older riders.

Did the first day of the "Fall Foliage Festival' in Staunton, VA. 100 miles, almost 8K of climbing. Cool day, overcast and a bit windy at times, but still a good ride. I'm much sorer this morning than I expected to be. This is a 2-day event, and I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do today's ride...

NealH and I attended a Specialized Demo ride in Asheville this morning. I test rode a Venge while Neal tried out a Tarmac SL4, Roubaix disc and a Venge. We had a short spirited group ride of about 16 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Nice ride, though there were too many impatient leaf looker drivers out there. The Venge was fun and if I lived around flatter terrain it would be a great choice.

Today's ride was 66 miles making it the third consecutive Sunday ride of over 60 miles. The last twenty miles weren't super fast but it was such a beautiful day that I didn't care.

Rode with my friend, Don in Austin and six others in the hills of Southwest Austin. Did 60 miles with 5000 feet of elevation, I was unfamiliar with area so unaware of all the climbing. I estimate some grades were as high as 15%. I need to change gearing, currently running 52,42,30 with 12-26, going to look into 12-30 cassette.

10 miles indoors today. Even though it got near 70 for the first time in the last 10 days, it was also 35 mph wind gusts. Back to the cooler temps this week, with a freeze forecast in mid-week.

I just noticed that some are posting miles from indoor rides. Up to now, I haven't posted indoor, trainer miles. I will from now on.

This was Hilly Hundred Weekend in Southern Indiana - I've done most of them going back to 1976.
56 miles Saturday on the tandem with my stoker - we did our first Hilly together in 1978 on singles.
44 miles Sunday on my long wheelbase 'bent. (Stoker had to work) Approx. 6600 total feet of climbing. That includes the two hills I walked up.
This fellow was accompanied by a Performance Enhancing Bird:

A mile (or kilometer) is a unit of linear measurement. If the trainer does not move, then the mileage (or kilometerage) is zero. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

And how does one determine "virtual" distance? I'm guessing that a computer with a sensor for the back wheel is the trick.

That should work for virtual distance. Front sensor would work for riding on rollers.

Did 35 mi in Harriman. Had a good day, not riding, but cleaning up. I brought a hand broom and swept away all the excess glass along the 11 mi I usually ride. It was a PIA but definitely worth it. Most of the problem was from a bad accident last week. That's what gave me the idea.

112 miles Sunday. 60f to 45f windy. The cold used more calories than I had planed for, I was aiming for 120 miles.
