Bench vise has been all I've ever needed, but I've been fortunate to never have had one that truly well stuck. Although I've had a bunch that had been in place for 45 years and more. Also never have removed the fixed cup on a bike that wasn't down to pretty much the bare frame for total servicing. Not hard to mainululate when the only thing attaced to the frame is the fixed cup.

Bench vises are nice for well tightened freewheels, too. Put the remover in the vise, set the freewheel on the tool and rotate ccw -- Bob's your uncle.
