Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? I don't know how long this has been available but I assume it is new in the last month or so. BD is now offering an aluminum frame SS 29er with disc brakes for $349 shipped. A really good deal for those of you looking for a winter muck or low maintenance beater bike. The previous ss 29ers offered by BD were steel frames (deadeye, bullseye, stout) and were quite heavy. This supposedly fixes that issue and looks like it would be a fun ride.

Here's a link and a pic https://www.bikesdirect.com/products/gravity/g29ss.htm . The detailed pic gallery isn't up yet.

Not quite. That tape also comes unbranded and it kinda sucks.

The stock parts are "meh" at best but that's still a great deal. If I drink a few more beers, I may end up "accidentally" buying one and it will become my new rain bike.

"thanks for the heads up Jaytron"

+1000000

Got my 54 cm this time. I saw that damn 6:30am re-up and was like WTF again. I even feebly attempted to calculate/predict the next alert until I realized the futility of that. This time I put it on sms AND email alert, came up same day like some other deals.

Was tempted to get another afterwards, for no justifiable reason at all except to own two of them (maybe give one to my bro or something).

Damn, if they get any cheaper, I may have to. They dropped it $30 from last time and it came out to $530 shipped for a complete Track Comp. Yikes.

Seriously, I'm was planning on a wheelset but I might just go this route if I'm lucky.

+1, I've had the same stuff on my Mash (performance branded) for several months now and it isn't terrible but it's not the same as lizard-skins. More foam-rubber than actual rubber.

Any recent deals on bikesdirect bikes? I had a 09 Windsor Clockwork that I bought on sale for $270 last month but got the wrong size. Just sold it and now I'm looking to replace it. Unfortunately bikesdirect sold out of the same bike in 54cm which I wanted to buy. Anyone know of any other (better) bikes in that price range?

Thanks

There's no such thing...

Whatever "deals" they advertise are their normal everyday prices.

Did you know bikesdirect owns nearly every brand they carry? That includes mercier, motobecane, windsor, gravity, etc. Among which are brands with some past history but whose trademarks were picked up by BD after the brands folded and have completely abandoned the very brand's roots.
That they intentionally set up phoney websites for these brands with a ridiculously inflated LBS price for them despite the fact nobody else carries those brands?

Just picked these up: https://www.wekeepyoucycling.com/en/p...handlebar.aspx

$150 bars for $40 no tax, free ship? You can't explain that.

Bumping this post because this place is awesome. I got it a DAY after ordering (granted I'm in CA and they're in NV) Good quality, fire-sale-priced bars/etc.

Mmmm... they feel way comfy. I know some of you here have roadies haha

Want...don't need at all...still want...

Edit: I would actually pick one up for down the road, but I know nothing about bars right now.
