10 miles on the ti 'bent after work this evening. Low 40s but dry. Getting dark at the end of the ride - the days will start getting longer tomorrow, but that don't ensure better riding conditions, does it???

Shortest day of the year today! Holidays are almost out of the way. Just three dark months and we are in springtime again. I do love this (and all) time(s) of the year.

Cold and damp outside, even when sun is shining, so staying indoors as of late. Did a metric century yesterday in Zwift. Tried to extend to another century, but decided to fold at 85 miles. Slept like a baby.

Looking forward to 2018 and my first true annual mileage count.

P.S. Enjoyed the pictures, ButchA!

so many other things pulling at me this time of year like family obligations. only biking has been the stationary bikes at my gym. yesterday after only 8 minutes the gym power goes out & we all get kicked out. an elderly woman drove into the building at the electric meters & distribution box. ugh, just can't win

Yesterday it was the wind, today it was the rain. Did a 25 mile, solo lap this morning under some really dark skies. Weather app forecast was for 15% chance of rain but the skies said otherwise. I opted to stop there and skip the second 15 miles of the ride. Got home and within 20 minutes, the sky turns blue and the sun comes out. And of course, no rain!.

Left the house yesterday with some fog hanging low. Got to the point where wiper blades on my glasses would have been marvelous. Just about ready to get out the fillet knife when I decided to turn around and head back home. Delete button pressed then spent a good bit of time drying, cleaning, lubing the bike getting it ready for tonight's midnight madness ride to beat the fog.

Foggy and damp, 40 mile ride this morning. It stayed overcast for the entire ride so the fog didn't dissipate until close to 10:30. I had a clean bike when I started this ride.

53 Miles, pushed me past the 6.000 mile mark for the year. 6,012 miles. Hope to get two more rides in this year. Was a warm day for this time of the year, 43°, but it's not as much fun as the 80°+ days in the summer when I feel the best.

This morning's fog was the worst that we've had all week long. Barely able to see past 50-60 yards. Still had idiots trying to push 20+ mph in that soup and most without any lights on their bikes. Other than the fog, it was a good ride until Steve's rear Di2 derailleur went kaput. Battery showed 82% life remaining but it wouldn't shift and kept dropping the chain into the small cassette cog. We put the chain in the small chainring and limped back to the car. I went back out for another 15 miles for a total of 40 for the day. There's a lot to be said about good ole' mechanical components.

No ride for me today. After a couple days of constant rain, and heavily overcast skies today, the roads were still wet. While out and about in the car this morning I noticed some of the damage the flash flooding caused on the roads, along with lots of debris on the roads. Maybe tomorrow.

Was able to get out for a seven mile ride this afternoon. Wintry mix this morning but that let up and things dried out in the afternoon. Low 30's when I rode.
Might be snowy tomorrow.

Just FYI - Rowan and I have created a Facebook group for anyone who is interested in doing a Century-A-Month challenge. We completed a Century-A-Month this year ... even though the last two centuries were unexpectedly difficult ... and are planning to try it again in 2018.

It's a casual thing, one 100-mile ride each month, no prizes or anything, just a personal challenge.

You keep track of your own distance, talk about your rides, talk about the challenges involved in doing a century-a-month, and post pics.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/Century.a.Month/

There will also be a Century-A-Month thread in Long Distance as usual, and we'll be posting there as we have done all year this year, but we figured we'd see how the Facebook group would work as well.

14 mi with first six a ride hard effort to set PR. All I can say is "old age sucks." I did get the PR but I was three minutes slower than slowest of all 75 and over.

Yesterday-85 miles over to the in laws followed by a huge seasonal meal with the extended family. It was gracious of my wife to let me ride over to their house and even add some miles. It would have been nice to have added 15 more miles but I had to get there in time for the dinner bell. It was windy as all get out.........one of those days where you had to lean into cross winds to stay upright!! But the temps were mid to high 60s so very pleasant in Piedmont NC.

The fog this morning was very thick and very wet. It was almost like riding in the rain. I wanted one more ride before Christmas and my road bike needs a new chain, so I took the wife's trike out for a one lap spin around the park. A nice and easy 15 mile ride and then home to help get everything ready for tomorrow.

Another heavily overcast day with fog and the drizzles means the roads still have not dried up any, so no ride again today.
It could be worse, because if the temps were much colder, it could be snowing. That still may happen later this week.

16 miles on a chilly, windy day. First ride in a week, other than short commutes and errands. Feeling better after a week with flu.

Got a severe cold and all the joints ache, something ridiculous, I look like one of those puppets with strings attached hahaha, last rode 9 days ago, did 4 hours in my garage on the static, says I covered 69 miles. Can't see myself getting back on until this bug has gone, death warmed over would be great

Have a Great Christmas and New Year.

No, 2+ inches of powdery snow fell today and I'm not so sure I'll be getting to mom's today. Just not the kind of thing to have faith in. Somebody caused a wreck and totaled mom's last car not two weeks ago and I doubt I want her coming over in her current car in this. I expect babies and fireballs to fall from the sky at some point, I just have lost any enthusiasm.
