Thank you @jimincalif - very true, I was glad it was over........however, as we approached Sylvan Park I knew I still had a lot left so I still think a double is doable in the future.

Jim's got a good point - did you have anything left at Onyx or just after coasting for 2 hours down the hill.

In good weather it's probably only a bit over an hour to get back from Onyx. I think it took me about 1-1/2 hrs last year, but I had to go slow through the rain, sleet and fog from Angelus Oaks down to the hairpin turn.

A double? Very cool. You, Russell and Dori. It's very gratifying to roll in after a long ride with something left in the tank. Breathless is really 70 mile climbing ride, then a 30 mile recovery ride with about +1000/-7000 elevation, I recovered pretty well and felt good by the time I got back. I also felt like I had a lot left after the Cool Breeze double metric. For me it's mental. After the double metric I could have physically kept riding, but mentally I was done. Not mentally exhausted, but just ready to get off the bike and do something else.

That's impressive. Crazy, but impressive. I think I saw some of them riding through Redondo beach on Sunday. It's not so common to see people all decked out in reflective gear, packs on bikes, lights etc on a bright Sunday morning.

The century I did with my wife is the only ride over 100 miles I've done start-to-finish with another person. And it was the easiest one I've ever done. 6+ hours by myself and I get way too far inside my own head. That's why I'll never grasp how guys who do double-imperials manage it, or how Coker did what she did last year. I'm too busy ruining everything with my thinking.

um yah I'll stick to my century-ish range for the long rides. One year BWR was 144 miles and 12k vert, I've yet to come close to that distance again outside of BWR. Closet was on my SF to LA ride when I rode thru the 101 valley to get to Paso Robles
