Good news: daughter #2 got into Honors college at Pitt and they offered her roughly half off tuition!
Bad news: she says she still wants to go to NYU.
I told her NYU stands for Not Your University, she was not amused.

We set out to do 60, but someone’s tubeless tire caused multiple delays and we ended up settling for 47 or thereabouts. It was blowing like stink on the way back.
In other news, daughter is going to make an honest man of her five-year partner, Memorial Day weekend 2021 in Iceland, mainly for ease of working in the EU.

Also BillyD the [>] link on this quote worked for me. FYI I'm using Google Chrome version 79.0.3945.88.
64 bit if that matters.

I know that and you know that. I am hoping she will reach that conclusion without us having to force it on her. She did see the campus but that was 3 years ago when we were doing college tours for daughter 1. So a second look visit may be in her future.

During football season, there's a lot of football talk. There's family talk, and talk about travel and children and cameras and kitchen knives and bears and anything else random going on. And hand-wringing about bike and non-bike purchases. Back years ago there was endless talk about my dating life, until that finally got sorted out. That was six and a half years ago, for perspective.
There are a lot of in-jokes (one of which is "hi! what's this thread about?"), and people come and go throughout the years, sometimes multiple times. We haven't had a whole lot of new folks come and stay for even a while in recent years, so it's nice to get some interest since I said that. Welcome!

If I could go back, I'd apply to UT-Austin, CU-Boulder, UT-Chattanooga, and other schools in cities I could see myself living in.

I'd rather not go to Pitt, personally, but it's awfully hard to recommend NYU under the circumstances. I assume Pitt is good for her major and she had enough interest to apply. Medicine?

As was alluded to but not stated, the original "Addiction" was about patentcad's then-new Scott Addict. People started posting a lot of random stuff in it, and it turned into a banter thread.

Also is it purposely misspelled as 'Addition' like as in addition, subtraction, division, etc...?

It’s complicated. No interest in medicine. She wants to study English and film because she likes to read books and watch movies. From that perspective I can see the allure of New York City and NYU. But she is very 18 and who knows what she will decide long-term. We need to find a balance of what is best for her. Stay tuned.

Several years ago, I corrected a misspelled word and was informed that spelling was not only overlooked here, but expected.
In my case, I appreciate occasional bike talk just to justify things.

Also, pay no attention to Velo Vol, he’s the resident comedian.

Bought new shoes and pedals today. I suffered a rapid deceleration at the halfway point of my ride Thursday night. The new rig now has a dent in the drive side chainstay and is slightly bent. I have a friend doing damage assessment. Initial review was it should be ok. he had a bike shop BITD and still has equipment to check alignment to make sure.
I limped back with the usual scapula to buttocks involvement in addition to a direct hit to my big toe which caused a twisting of my ankle.
I will put my cleats on the new shoes along with my shims for leg length discrepancy and give it a go on the old bike tomorrow.
The front part of the rigid sole of the involved shoe was broken off requiring replacement. Pedal involved also was broken.
I don't want to do that again and advise against it.

It was 60 degrees late last night, when Benson went for her last walk of the day. But the wind has shifted back to westerly, so I expect winter to return.
