Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I look at the Time bike and wonder if there is really any engineering behind it. I dont know why I think that, but I do not get the same feeling that I do when looking at a Cervelo TT bike, knowing that it is as aerodynamic as possible. The Time bike just looks like a bike that they wanted to "look" aero. Of course it might be the most aero bike ever built for all I know.. just a look thing for me.

Beryllium Comp Lite? Supposed retail price of something like $26000 back in 1986. Lean it up the wrong way in your apartment, scratch the tubing, and the dust'll kill you.

does this look aero to you?

I like the over-the-top-possibly-not-as-aerodynamic look.

Oh, I would say that could be plenty aerodynamic.

You do realize that that was one of the most un-aerodynamic frames possible right? The thing barely flew. It took a lot of processing power and active stabilization in order to fly it. The reason why it's shaped like that is for the radar signature, not aerodynamics. Aerodynamically, that thing is just shy of a brick, but it's radar signature was about that of a ball bearing.

Wait.. the F117 is shaped like that to be stealth (specifically to deflect radar waves to any direction than where they came from). That aircraft is one of the most un-aerodynamic aircraft there is, and can only fly because of onboard computers that make control surface movements several times per second to keep it from going out of control. If it were a non-fly-by-wire aircraft, it would be almost impossible to control. So, just like the Lambo Reventon, the F117 is not aero, and the Reventon is just a car flattering the F22 Raptor (which is far more aero than the F117 but still stealthy). So, maybe Time is just as much as a style statement as it is an aero statement...not really a master of either, but as a combo it looks great.

looks like slvoid and I posted about the same time

Haha, thats what I thought too.

didn't they fall out of the sky a bit? IIRC it was impossible to fly it manually or something similar.

I'm pretty sure they made that lambo look like the fighter plane on purpose.

most TT bikes look pretty ugly if you ask me. Maybe it's just the thinking of having to ride it that tunrs me off.

A Walser TT frame would be exotic.

SPIN frames are pretty exotic too, Wish I had one.

This is aero.

This is aero?

This is ultra aero, but takes a page from the past. i.e. X-1, early racing cars.

Actually, that's not that aero, they adjust it so that it's just un-aero enough to also provide downforce when cornering. Plus, the cockpit's exposed.
