i never had a problem with alcoholism. never struggled with it. woke up on november 1 and decided i needed to take a few days off. that few days has turned into 7 months. feels really good and it's something i'm proud of. another thing i've noticed...when i tell people i don't drink their first response is usually "wow. who's your sponsor? where do you go to meetings? did you get a dui?!" it's crazy how drinking is so popular and almost expected that when people find out you don't drink, they assume something catastrophic must have happened.
People tend to assume that because you don't drink, you must be trying to cut back or you had a DUI as mentioned. Maybe some of us just don't want to do it anymore?

So today I did 50.2 miles on the fixed gear. Rode out to a charity ride, did the 30 mile ride and then rode home. Have had enough caffeine to give an elephant a heart attack and I can barely keep my eyes open. Gonna hit the sack here soon. Was windy, a bit of drizzle mixed in, and bumpy country roads. My 3 least favorite things about riding.

What you allergic to? I have bad hay fever, and finally went to an allergy specialist. Turns out I am allergic to cats, dust, mold, some types of trees and grass. Been getting injections, and my life is mostly normal now. Not much you can do for an avocado allergy, but I am alright with that, just avoid it like the plague.

As far as I know at the moment, I'm allergic to nothing edible (so I think).

Drinking is commonplace thing. among family, friends, co-workers and my gf. Don't get me wrong, I like to drink too, but probably drink socially a little more than a would if left to my own devices, or if I was surrounded by different people. What gets me the most is the desire to have a couple drinks (or three) in social situations the night before a hard training ride/race - I'm always conflicted about it. On nights like these when I'm alone I don't drink.

That also warrants what constitutes "drinking". I appreciate fine alcohols, especially scotch (Islays and Blends). If I'm doing my own thing, I might have (up to) 1 scotch the night before an early morning, but that doesn't really count as "drinking" in my book.

This got me thinking. To me, drinking at home (or otherwise alone) isn't really detrimental. I enjoy certain types of beer, wine, spirits and drinks. I'm not drinking enough to suffer significant consequences - financial or physical. Like 1 or 2, usually none though.
It's the social drinking that gets me, I very rarely have a few or more on my own. When I think about "drinking" when phrased like Unkle Rico posted, it implies drinking enough to get a least a little drunk.

Drinking is fun. I'm gonna go buy beer right now. Also, rode track today. That was fun too.

it's kinda what i do. half the fun is dialing in and customizing a bike, riding it a few thousand miles and then doing it all over again!
