Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was rummaging through my 40-50 jerseys a few weeks ago, and realised that I don't have much in the way of long-sleeved jerseys ... and yet, I wear the few I have the most of all my jerseys ... autumn, winter, and spring.

So I figured it was time to increase the collection, and I also like merino.

My new acquisition is this one:

One of my other long sleeved jerseys has thumb holes, and I simply don't use them. They don't get in the way and I forget that they are there most of the time. I suspect it will be the same situation with this jersey. In fact, I tried it on last night and didn't realise it had thumb holes until I read the info on the picture I posted today. I'll have to have a better look at it tonight!

I was more fascinated with the ventilation. I'll be interested to see how well that works.

Does this count ? Purchased & installed a DERO repair station for my convenience store in Richmond, TX. There are alot of cyclists that ride in this area due to the nice country roads. This will allow them to use free tools & equipment including an airpump. Also, installed benches for a rest area.

It counts. Very nice gesture. A couple of years ago, somebody put a couple of those along the 40-mile MUP along the river. I think it was part of an Eagle Scout project.

Nice looking jersey. I may have to check out to see if they make a men's version.

FWIW - I like (and use) the thumb holes in my merino wool base layer. I don't notice them, and haven't had a problem with them wearing out - but I've only had the base layers for about 2 seasons now (commuting 2 to 3 times per week plus at least one weekend ride per week in the winter), and I rotate them.

Just bought these https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/WPPX52...ncher-wheelset.

Think I've made a mistake, probably should have ordered these instead https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/WPPXC4...arbon-wheelset

Can be a little windy where I live, wondering if that extra 7mm will make a big difference.

I was looking into buying a carbon set of these last week. How are you finding them? Where did you purchase?

You should be fine, the downside of the the 52s is the machined sidewall, they weigh 400g more than the others...the upside, better stopping power.

Just search 3t aeronova, they're everywhere...Art's has them, Competitive Cyclist has them, Chain Reaction Cycles has them, Wiggle has them. They've been out for awhile now, they're pretty easy to find.

Bell Super2R MIPS
https://www.bellhelmets.com/cycling/h...mips-equipped/

Got a good deal at the LBS. Tried it on, much better fit than any of the other helmets I've tried. Visor and bar are removable for road riding. Ventalation looked surprisingly good considering the helmet style.

I bought a pair of specialized RBX sport shorts, 40$ plus tax 20% off. 30 miles test ride and they feel great, and are more aero than my baggy mtb bike shorts.

Took advantage of the USD-Euro exchange rate and picked this up:

Also found these at westernbikeworks at half off. 2 pairs @ 89.99 each. Worn just about every brand and these are my favorites, especially for 100+ mile rides.

Overall, it's "okay". I haven't genuinely ridden the Edge 810 or 1000 which I would say are the most direct competitors but I've toyed with them and in terms of UI and overall features they're really the same in essence.

I will say that the touchpad has this stupid feature where you need to hold an option down for it to select but sometimes device thinks you want a quick single click so I find myself stabbing the damn thing over and over for it to select an option.

No problems with connectivity among any of my Ant+ devices.

Still having trouble syncing it to Strava and sometimes my computer doesn't like it either and won't recognize it.

Had about 25% battery life after a 4 hour ride, then again this was with like a 1 minute+ backlight so I was basically using it as a heads up display.

So overall.... okay. Maybe you can give a better insight since you've owned and actively used both on the road. So please do and let me know which Edge it is you're comparing it to.
