Five nice bikes in GA, unpriced, no details and with crappy pix but probably worth investigating for someone on the area. Merckx, Bob Jackson, Vitus and two Motobecanes.

Might be a deal - looks original with full 105, just might be that it's dirty as reason for price

https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/w...451679524.html

miyata 914 - $150 (Stillwater)

miyata 914 road bike. High quality and sought after steel frame. 105 components. All original except upgraded seat and bar tape. This is a responsive and fun bike, but is too aggressive of a riding position for my old age.

1982 Peugeot Vintage 12 speed road bike - $200 (south san francisco)

22.5", 57cm Peugeot Vintage road bike has been hanging in my garage for 14 years. This is a classic bike originally bought in Canada and in great working condition. It could probably use new tires since the existing ones are at least 15 years old.
This is a cash only sale

Someone is gpoing to get a good, solid touring bike for a reasonable price. Hey, if a 520 of similar vintage could hold up under 260 lbs of me plus the full compliment of touring gear - and it did - it'll hold up under you.

And, it has no pedals so doubt likely seller hasn't been riding it!

If it fits I would have bought it several days ago.....Many pooh-pooh Crescents for their workmanship, but this one was their top of the line model.
It would have had Campagnolo groupo on it.

I’ve only seen those grip shifts once before! A beautiful senior, tall lady senior, senior citizen rode by me on her beautiful vintage, either Miyata or Motobecane. I called out that I loved her bicycle! She turned that bicycle around in it’s length, manipulating those very shifters! She was well into the senior end of senior citizen! She had had the bicycle since it was new! We spoke briefly before she pedaled effortlessly away! She and that bicycle melding into a single moving entity!
Anyhow, getting back to those shifters…obviously they didn’t catch on…anybody have any experience with them?

Grip shifters we're standard on the mid level ST Cannondales for a year or two around 1991.
it's in the catalog but I've never seen them in the wild.

My daughter's first "real" bike had grip shifters near the stem, and i had to move them to make room for interrupteur brake levers...so i installed them as bar ends. A little awkward but they worked.
If it were my bike, I'd go with bar-end shifters instead.

I was repping when GS came out and we carried them. You could get Shimano compatible or Sun Tour, either in 6- or 7-speed, mountain or road. Made for a lot of SKUs. I set up a sample bike with the MTB 7-speed Shimano and it worked well but I never used the drop bar versions.

Harvey Nitz (Olympic medalist and 7-11 team member) rode with a grip shifter to shift during sprints. One of his 7-11 bikes came up for sale on eBay a couple years ago with a grip shifter. I was an under bidder and it is one the bikes I regret not buying. Cool piece of cycling history.
