Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'll admit to occasonally WANTING a cycling hat.

But there are three kinds of people in this world:

- People who look good in a cycling hat.
- People who look goofy in a cycling hat, but don't know it.
- People who look goofy in a cycling hat, and are fully aware.

I'm in the third category.

I'm not a "Fred", but I could certainly look like a Fred in a cycling hat.

Me too. What's a hat for? I have a helmet or two ... but I can only wear one of those at a time.

Do you wear it under your helmet?

I'm pretty sure banning Pcad is a joke. After all, doesn't everybody love Pcad?

Okay, okay there WERE the two people Pcad insulted with his trademark sarcasm about a year ago, but what's two out of thousands. Everybody else likes him, right? Right?

I could have lots of them but absolutely none of them fit. Well, they fit like the tiny paper Yarmulkas Israelies were passing out when I visited the Western Wall. If the one hat I have didn't say RAAM 1983 on it it would go too.

I've got the white Brooklyn cap with WC stripes
I've got a black Columbus cap; it's the same exact thing as the Cinelli, just with Columbus branding
I've got a polka dot Rasmussen cap that I cut up and made a sweat band with a visor (It looked better with my long hair)
I've got a very faded black/WC stripe "Spin" cap the respresents my team from last year

Zero, I wear my fleece running hats when its cold and thin headband when its hot. That said, I voted 'Ban pcad'... but thats nothing to do with hats, its because I am not eligible for the Futility Award (on account of my bf 'newbie' status), a prize I deeply desired.

Funny you ask. Four total. I've got my club cap coming to me in the mail right now. I've got one from a friend that sponsors a team. I've got one typical tour de france cap. And I had one custom made for me about a year ago. It wasn't so much custom made, but rather custom embroidered with my nick name on it.

edit: here's a shot of my custom cap.

Three - but only because my head is so darn big. The bills come in handy for winter riding when the sun is low in the sky. In spin class, they soak up sweat for at least half a ride, maybe more.

I've got an Assos, a Liquigas and a Firestone (my favorite).

Somehow, I have 13 of these silly things. While I do wear em almost every ride, I had no idea i had that many!

A few BMC caps, A CSC cap, a Rabobank polka dot/climbers cap, an Aqua Sapone cap, a few Assos caps, and a Castelli cap.
