You ressurect a zombie thread because you recently did something you consider to be "hardcore for a commuter" and want to brag about it.

I didnt know I was suppose to show my boobs when riding. I dont have any, dont even have moobs but if thats what it takes for me to be hardcore, damn it I'll try.

Yeah, I've been asked more than once, "how are you going to get all of that home on a bike?" You'd think that common sense would tell them that if I rode my bike there that I already thought that far ahead.

A lot of these seem familiar.
We have one car, and haven't bought gas in 6 weeks, although we'll have to tomorrow, since we're visiting my parents, the empty light is on, and it's probably too far for the kids to bike.

In Florida so much of the above temp regulation is in the "un" category (for example, un button) so I can keep cool.
Agreed, it also means to dress "warmly" (at least in most ares) putting on a pair of jeans, long sleeved shirt, and a slightly heavier jacket then the usual windbreaker/lightweight rain gear.

This is sg I have mentioned to ppl here and they just laugh. They are sure that you only need to change the oil based on the miles you have driven with it....

Regarding the biking commute.. I leave 10 minutes earlier now to beat the bike traffic at one intersection, and to check out two college girls commuting on one segmetn of my ride, scantily dressed and on really nice bikes....

i've been spending enough time on the commuter bike, that's how i felt last time i took the tt/tri bike off the trainer! i hit 40k/h (about 25m/h) on the flats without much wind, and it was just crazy! and a bit scary to be going that fast, head-first, without a seatbelt and a metal cage.

I actually typed "for the first time in three months", but the last three words got deleted and I didn't notice. My keyboard is buggy and does that sometimes.

...there's a road under contruction near your usual route and you take a detour just to zoom by all the waiting cars...

...you plan meetings with colleages in other towns on days you know all the office cars will be taken, so you can hop on the train with your folding bike...

You do an Artie Johnson while trying a new, soon to be yours, bike at the LBS, ride home, then to the Dr's office cause that shoulder just doesn't feel right, and after they figure out it's seperated you hop back on your bike and pedal home...Wish someone had Video'd that one, the bike shop guys still rag me about it...

Actually if the engine hadn't been started after the oil change, the oil will be fine for extended periods of time. But if the engine had been run after the new oil was installed, it "should" be changed at the six month mark, or before being started again. The contaminants in the oil from combustion break down the oil, causing it to lose some of its lubricating properties.

I have a 2004 Toyota bought new in Feb'04. It has 25,000 miles on it. I take it in at the recommended mileage since it spends most of the time in the garage.

You pay more attention to your bike's specs and servicing needs than anything on your car.

If you're back on a bike in under 72 hours after having your leg broken in 2 places and a torn ligament because someone in a car didn't see you riding there.

(it only took my ex-physician 3 weeks to get me MRI'd, where they found the breaks, despite being X-rayed that night.)
