Stickied Thread. I did 52 today, 30 with a new BF member bikingtolive and then another 22 on my own. He is just getting back into biking so the pace was much slower than I normally ride. I haven't ridden in the 13 avg mph in a long time, and my HR never got above 130, but it was a nice change of pace. I picked up the pace a bit on back side. All in all it was a great time.

67 miles, Leesburg, Hamilton, Purcellville, Hillsboro, Lovettsville, Taylorstown, Waterford and bike. Nice day, quite a few bike riders out on the roads. No trouble with traffic except for some woman in a convertible VW Bug with the top down, who was in a hurry to get somewhere I guess, because she honked and gave me the WTF? just because she had to wait two seconds for an oncoming car to pass...

I did a pretty routine 33.5 mile store ride (to Jordan Lake and back) except that the regular group leader was out and therefore so was the usual speed limit. We did a 19.1 mph average. It's usually 17.5 or so. I'm surprised it didn't actually go a bit faster, but that was sufficient for me. And yeah I stayed within the peleton; I let the young guys do the pullin'.

I rode 44 miles with about 4000' of climbing, basically up to the top of a mountain then back down. My legs were still tired from my solo climbing ride on Thursday.

Not enough time for riding today. I did get a 2 1/2 mile run in. Hopefully, I will get to ride the Burgers-n-Beers ride Wednesday night....whee!

It depends what you mean by "climbing." 90%+ of my riding is here in the Tennessee Valley, which only has hills and small ridges--the vast majority of which are less than a mile of uphill. I don't often climb "mountains," if that's what you mean.

So, how many 2008 miles do you have?

i'll have to verify when i get home, but after sunday, i think it's only around 1900 miles for 2008.

*edit - after my ride this evening, it's 1922 miles, which is 71 rides and 120:58hr ride time.

today's ride: 44miles, 20.1mph avg

Darn it. How about taking a couple weeks off? You don't want to overdo it.

I will. I've been told that after Assault on Marion I need to relax a bit from the training and just ride for fun for a while. Probably take all of June off and ride without computers on the bike. And, for me, that's a big deal, but I think I'm probably gonna need that or I'm going to get burnt out - sure don't want that to happen!

Just collect the distance and total time to put in your log. All that other funky stuff ... I'm having trouble coming up with an appropriate, yet innocuous, insult.

finally got out on my road bike yesterday, 14 miles there and back over on hwy 70. 14mph avg. Hadn't ridden in 3 weeks... need to make some adjustments to my riding position, the 69mm stem from when I was 15 isn't going to cut it. Fastest I got was 34 on on a downhill section on the way out. Went 8mph back up it. Also decided I need to bite the bullet and pick up some shoes for the look pedals my dad gave me. The top clips and tennis shoes were okay until I had to stand and do a hill climb and it felt like I was wearing flip flops as my soles distorted around the pedals.

Earlier in the day I spent 3 hours doing trail work with some MTB folks over at the state park.

No riding this week, and this weekend has been horrific with the wind blowing. Today had steady winds from 20-30 with gust to the 50's. Made it a good dad to make diner for the Mom-In-Law and the wife.

No. I am on a business trip in NYC. Only very very brave or very very stupid people ride up here. Maybe when I get home Thursday. Then I head out Friday to Santee-Cooper in SC for a weekend of fishing for catfish (and eating same). You guys have fun (and ride careful) on the SE Bikeforums ride!
