Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? That looks like a blast.

Here's my beater. Folks bought it for me as a Christmas present back in 1999 or so. I just put it back together as a spend nothing/use only parts I already have/SS lock up beater that I won't cry over when it inevitably gets stolen. However, I must say, it's a lot more fun than I thought it would be.

Stickin' with the Raleighs! What's gonna happen to the old frame? Keep it as a beater I hope

Here's my bugdet townie build: my 20 year old MTB, $8 cranks, $15 dia compe brakes, $7 handlebars
Almost everything else was paid for by earning amazon gift cards through various iphone apps. I'll replace the ugly chainring when it wears out.

I'm still deciding between the homemade porteur rack and the wald basket. If I go with the rack, I'd then get cork grips, stained to match.

^^ Nice bike. The porter rack is nice, but I think the basket looks "right" on your bike.

SS commuter bike built from Kilo OS frame. I switched out the stock fork for a Craigslist find with crazy fast steering and canti bosses so I could run a V-brake, Avid Single Digit 5, to be specific. Now it stops on a dime which is great for NYC riding where good brakes are essential. Velo Orange fenders where a PITA to mount but they look schnazzy IMHO. I have a CETMA that I drilled out DRASTICALLY to reduce the weight and will mount once I'm done painting it.

It's if you're tall but have short legs. You can cut the first top tube out to lower stand over.

Yeah its going to be my delivery/beater/low-geared bike. I really wanted to leave the bike built and just piece together everything for the new frame, but I'm broke and didn't want to wait to get parts.

Newb here, x-Chicago resident, residing in Knoxville Tn(native)

Ebay Crosslakesales Beater (in storage now) $200 pick up for the Chicago bike thieves and salty nasty commutes, first roadbike/ss/fixed ever

Wifes State, My State (opted this color way before they released the MIDAS)

All smiles after my first grocery run on my Univega

After riding it a bit this frame can't comfortably haul as much as I like, going to put that Basil front rack on my crosslake and return the univega back to its old lightweight self.
Ill find something to throw the rear rack on someday.

also this guy (don't hate on the foot choice, haven't bought shoes for it yet)
