Not cheap, and more antique than C&V, but if someone wants one of these here it is:

Early 1900's BSA Mens Wood-Rimmed Racing Bicycle Great Condition

Early 1900's BSA Mens Wood-Rimmed Racing Bicycle Great Condition (Bowling Green)

condition: excellent

Extremely rare, original condition, Men's BSA Wood-Rimmed Racing bicycle. This bicycle was made in the early 1900's. BSA pedals and sprocket, hand-painted racing stripes, original #12 Racing Placard, wooden rims, sturdy bicycle stand, extremely lightweight...great condition. Fully Functioning.
$1500 obo

Maybe in the high three figures, given that it is a tall frame? There is a smaller frame that has gone untouched at $1300 BIN:

I know nothing of them but something seems odd in the frame and not of the era. Whats up with the joinery?

Hmm... well I was guessing on the name of the color based on some ads. At the tail end of the old headbadge (around 1970), there was a very thin chromovelato finish they were using. I think @nlerner owned one of those, maybe a Super Course. He might know what the finish was actually called, but it certainly was not durable.

Neat. I wonder if there's actually a good frame underneath those cruiser bars and Wald basket.

Here is my stupid question for today: Is there actually some love out there for Ross Signature bikes? My wife's ride to work bike/beater bike is a Signature 292S. I stripped off the Shimano 105 Golden Arrow components and built it up with parts bin components. Maybe I will recreate the bike with the original components.

It actually appears correct and very nice. The joinery is internal lugs, and the frame appears to be Forge Brazed. Here is a picture of such a joint devoid of paint

Stem, bars and levers are all wrong.

It's spendy.

The seller calls it a 1928 when it is more like 1938.

But the rest of it is in great condition, it has Universal 35 calipers and a first gen cambio corsa. Pretty cool.

A little bit of a drive for me (Kenosha). Anything for a 1970's Japanese 10/12-Speed bike collector like me? Or is this primarily newer stuff? Even though it isn't that far it is still an hour drive via Hy 41.

Thanks - Don

1) That Cinelli BB shell, was Limongi's design. He'd have been back in Paris by 85 or so, and 2) The seller notes that the tubing (I think he meant the framebuilder) was Didier Louis who shop was in Montreuil. IMO, forgivable detail errors on the part of the seller. Some of the info may have been just lost in translation. I've seen that type of frame with different pro-shops' badges around Paris/ÎDF.

This one is hanging up in Cycles Laurent near Place de la République in Paris. Purportedly made in their own shop, but I've heard gossip/rumor that it's actually a Didier Louis.

I might even know the guy he got it from.
That said, if this bike is your size, I'd take the seller up on his consideration for reasonable offers.
