Bike ≠ Car ≠ Ped.
I messed with the saturation and whatnot on this one, and it started to look like it was taken with Kodachrome film. Not completely, but more so than the original:

I had a closer look at the beach one, and it was taken with real film and a $14 camera, plus I hauled that film around in my panniers for about 1.5 months while I was on that tour ... probably not the best storage conditions. Then, when the picture was developed, I scanned it.

Alright
This took place on the boarder of New York and Connecticut, about 5 days before the end of a cross country bike trip. I was riding in a group consisting of 5 other riders, and we were about 6 miles away from meeting a police escort to take us into a Marriott Hotel. That's when disaster struck. As we were riding, a truck hit a bump in the road, and a floor heater fell out of the back of the truck, into the middle of the road. Of course, this is NY. The people care more about not hitting the heater than not hitting us. As we were screaming profanities and making sure we didn't get run over, I forgot to look at the road in front of me.
Went right through that. I couldn't really find a picture that does justice for how deep the hole really was (5-6 inches). As soon as I hit the hole, I went flying. I got up about a minute later, picked up my bike, then realized that my front fork and wheel were missing. They were about 10 feet in front of me. I thought it was the funniest thing in the world. Of course, later on I was pissed since I wasn't really riding my bike all the way across the country (had to borrow a friends for a few days) and that insurance didn't cover it.
Oh well. In the end, I got a sweet discount on a 08 Madone 5.2 Pro, so I'm not going to complain too much

oh yeah, i forgot. the wheels that came on the bike were not really machined at all. the previous year, both the front and rear were machined. as you can see in the pics, i just sort of wore through the surface down to the rim, and it stops a lot better now. just something to think about if you are going with the stock wheels.

Not my bike, but this was a stretch of the road from Moyogalpa to Altagracia in Nicaragua. No way my bikes would have made it. For those who don't read Spanish, the sign in the second pic reads "Bus Stop"

This was taken on my Sunday morning ride. A fresh dusting of snow made for a beautiful ride.
