Only had time for one lap at the MUP this morning before the rains came. Again! 17.5 miles on a very wet and debris filled path with flooding in certain areas of the park.

Thank you very much.

Got the OK to get back on road bike and also pavement pounding but no swimming for another week. Might take 3 months to get my voice back.

Found this on the road today. Keys in, engine running. Had to leave it, no place to put my bike.

Nice 41 miles.

Boy, did I.

My son started his first real job at our office for the summer (long overdue). Since he hasn't got his drivers license yet, the only way for him to get to the office is to do the 17+ mile commute on his bike with me.

Yea, baby. I'm gonna whip his sorry arse into shape.

Was planning to but am still recovering from a very busy day at work with one thunderstorm after another at the airport where I work running an aviation weather observations computer. It's up to 99 degrees right now and think I better wait for a cool early morning ride tomorrow on my Giant Rapid 2 café racer.

Didn't find any unclaimed Cobras or even a Yugo, during today's ride, it was still a nice ride. Temps were alright for July in the deep south, 95° was as hot as I saw on the tarmac, hunidity dipped down onto the 70% range so not bad at all.

Very short ride to check house FIL had that we now have up for sale. The community's entrance street was on the news tonight because of the flooding from all the rain. Water into the driveway was almost to BB of my GG and it is now raining again.

Had hoped for an early evening ride but then - this has been the norm recently - it poured down rain.
But then the storm passed and, by golly, the weather was very nice and not dark yet! Road was wet, but already had fenders on, so I was able to get in a 9 mile ride.

Twenty today - well actually yesterday - it's 2:02a.m. I've done several twenty milers over the past two weeks. Slowly recovering from a crash back in late February. Found out I had a broken shoulder a couple of weeks ago. Gonna try to start doing at least four twentys to fortys a week.

I took a rest day, it was our 37th wedding anniversary yesterday. We had a very nice Italian dinner at our special restaurant and a quiet night at home, nothing big was happening right now, just some quality time.

Happy Anniversary, Bill!

Got in a very hot and humid 44 miles today. The path on the MUP loop is under 6-8 inches of water, so the rangers allow you to turn around and ride against the one-way flow of traffic when this happens. Some riders go through it, but I don't feel like tearing the bike down to clean it and dry it out just to say I did. Besides it adds an extra 5 miles to my 17 mile laps.

It was really humid and warm this morning but once underway, it was quite cool and comfortable. Some places seemed cold where it had rained recently. I rode from my shop in Bellows Falls, VT to saxtons river, over PV road to Rockingham, up to Chester then back over RT30 to Grafton. I got a 1/2 dozen bagels coming back through town.

It was a little over two hours and I had enough energy to work till 5pm.

I call that a good day.

That is a good day indeed! How many of the bagels did you eat before getting back home again?

Today I did YAC (Yet Another Commute), the usual 13 miles in, 14 miles back to the train station. It was humid but tolerable, even a bit cool this morning. I rode the orange '72 Bertin.

I rode today. The stats are on Strava.

A deep thought: one area that cats are superior to dogs: when I'm riding along and see a cat sitting menacingly in their yard, I really don't worry about it too much. I'm not including mountain lions in this discussion, but even then I'm sure they're safer than a texting teenager.
