I actually said this same thing to a CL seller just today. He's trying to list the parts, and doing a terrible job, when all he would have to do is just take decent pictures that show what the components are. I don't get it.

Well half the components aren't there the bike has been butchered poor boyed into a single speed and has what look like iffy maybe junk wheels with flat tires for value purposes none exestantant. $200 is more than the bike is worth as is.

I am selling my Eddy Merckx frame and fork that I never built. From looking up the serial number I believe it to be a corsa or a professional. It might have been repainted but I am not positive on that either...it does have some touch up paint marks. The frame is in great shape with no bends or breaks. This bike would be a real fun build but I just don't have the time for it.

Reynolds 531 professional built with mostly japanese parts. The frame has crimps in the seat tube (probably bb extrraction) and the fork isn't matching. But Shimano 600 brake levers and rear brake, suntour rd, rear araya laced to sansin, 6 speed. Of the 12 gears that it has, it actually is geared more sensibly than my modern road bikes for the city. Solid commuter bike for someone that appreciates quality. Frame is a 56 seat tube, 55.5 top tube, crank length 170.

Old school 650 frame = almost worthless regardless of it being a Calfee Old tech is old tech
Old school 650 wheels = almost worthless

Stem, bars, saddle, cranks pedals = worthless

STI levers $75-100
DEAN ti seat post $75-100
Hubs = $50-75 depending if they're Ultegra or Dura Ace
Derailleurs = $100 if they're Dura Ace///nominal value if they're something else

$200 for the bike plus another $100 for shipping....I don't see much value in that bike at $300. And it needs a minimum of $50 in parts if you use cheap parts, $100 for quality parts.

Dan...I was in Ithaca last Monday, we drove from Endicott up to Taughannok falls.

If it's 650, that does change things quite a bit. The gee whiz wow factor isn't lost on me though.

As far as taughannock- I grew up about a mile from there, and my parents still live in that house. Very cool area. It's been a great summer- it's far greener for this time of year than it has been in years.

I know I've posted this one before, but he's dropped the price, and I'm pretty sure is willing to negotiate further. It's an '86 SR800, basically the model that would later become the "Black Lightning" (I think the seller is calling it a "gran compe 400" because of the Dia Compe brakes). If I remember correctly, this particular bike is all Suntour Superbe. When I went to look at it, it appeared to be stock, and other than the tubulars was in good shape. I would have bought this thing two weeks ago if it was anywhere near my size.
