Pogue - I'd agree...except that it has the bivalent hub wheels. Those are obscenely hard to find and obscenely expensive...over $1000 for the hubs easy. He's not going to get that much on CL, but for one with the hubs...it's probably realistic eBay value. Except that it's large and that limits buyers.

As one of the fortunate few who buy large frames, hubs or no, it's overpriced. Lots of patina on the frame, prolly (edit:needs) a repaint. He'd be wise to remove the wheels and sell them separately, I think.

The markdown for big frames is pretty signifigant... at that point he's likely hoping someone buys the bike for the hubs.

If the RVa frame were 62, I might be able to get it for 6/700, I think. No local value on the big ones.

IF it's a SC perhaps, but there is no way to tell unless you know the serial numbers of CS's built and the year corresponding to all the serial numbers, and take that info to look at the bike to check to make sure it's a CS. And repainted vintage bikes are not worth quite as much as ones having the original paint...though the original paint is becoming increasingly more difficult to preserve at each passing year. Once confirmed it's a SC than one would have to consider how much the cost is to have it repainted and have all the original decals reapplied (plus the purchase price of course), have all the original components gone through and reinstalled, vs what would be worth afterwards...if that is what the person wants, resale value.

Agreed.

I have a painter in town that could take care and do a very nice job on a refinish.

Yes, and there's a guy in RVA that would do it quite reasonable like-- about 400$, including decals.

It is certainly well within the reasonable range, I think.

Or you could just look at the fork crown and seatlug. It's an SC. The bottom line is that these are hard to find in good condition. Restored, this would be about a 2500 bike on e bay, so yes...a restoration can make sense.

I've seen many of these listed for a lot more. Maybe not for flipping, but if you're in the market for a sweet ride... Wish it were closer and a 56 cm.

For the hardcore Kuwahara / Howie Cohen fan:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Kuwa...item3f2dd4bf60

[h=1]Vintage Kuwahara Ladies Road Bike Purple 46cm Near Mint Condition ET Vintage BMX[/h]I got this bike from the starting owner of Kuwahara Bikes Howie Cohen of Everything Bicycles just before he passed last July. Kuwahara BMX Bikes were the bikes used in the ET Movie in the 80's. This was the only road bike in his collection so it's quite rare. Bike is in amazing condition with just a few paint touch ups etc. Near mint condition for its age.

Bike is all original except the handle bar wrap that was needed to be replaced. 46cm measured center to center.

Parts on this beautiful 1983 ride include...

Nitto Olympiade 115 Alloy Bars and Stem/Dia-Comp Brakes/IRC Super HP Tires/Araya Alloy Rims/Suzue Juno Sky Road Hubs and Skewers/Kyokuto Pro Vic II Pedals and KKT Cages and Straps/Suntour ARX Shifters and Derailleurs/Sugino Super Maxy Crank/Sugino SP-H Seat Post/Kuwahara Head Set/KEC Chain/Suntour Perfect Freewheel/Taihei Saddle.

Own a rare piece of Japanese History that will make a great Holiday gift for that special lady!

Well, it's not BMX and it's not a woman's bike. ET is nowhere to be found. But it's got history. It was Howie's bike.

Also - Ishiwata 022, and built (very well) in Osaka.

Sounds good.

It would look great on a premium Japanese bicycle for example.

The DA hubs are also exceptional as you know.
