This is my third year at Ft Davis and without a doubt it was the hardest trip yet. I heard that from alot of guys who have done this race before.
Stage 3 really started well for me..i was worried about my lack of sleep but as soon as we rolled off I knew the legs were good. At about mile 30, after much attacking and counter attacking, a break stuck that included my teammate and one of the GC contenders...we basically patrolled the front while other teams tried to pull it back. First big climb and I made it over with the big guns legs felt fine aside from a slight twinge in my right quad. I had felt this during the later stages of the TT on Saturday and thought it was the onset of cramps. The next climb the big guns really punched it and the field shattered....I was in pulling the second grupetto over the top and apparently hurting them in process..one of the guys asked me back off let a couple others get on so we could form a chase group...this worked well as we put together a solid chase and pulled back the main group of about 15. My teammate Jimmy who had been dropped on the climb got back on and I felt confident that we'd rejoin them. We got within 10 seconds and the group just stopped working...only 4 of 8 would take a pull. They were just cresting the next climb when I drilled it at the bottom, that pretty much dislodged all but me and three others. The group ahead started to build up their lead again and the twinge in my right quad now turned to a nagging pain...I pretty much pulled the climbs but the pain was getting worse...when we hit the descent into Medera canyon I had to unclip and coast. The three guys in my group hit the Fletcher Canyon climb about 10s ahead of me..I did the climb with my right leg unclipped. At the top I could still see them and I clipped back in and tried to chase but the pain was getting worse..I did two more climbs on one leg when finally a car came by and asked me if I wanted a ride...I gladly accepted.
Not sure what happened..could have been a slipped cleat..I felt like my heal wanted to rotate out but couldn't...I tried to ride today but it's still very sore...going to just stay off the bike till the weekend and try again.

Thank you for your reply. Would it be possible for you to let me know by next monday (19th)?
And a side note;
I passed my cali teaching qualifiers...
Wohoo. I suppose that I'm not totally screwed.

Congrats. But.... as the product of California public schools I'll say: don't pat yourself on the back too hard. It's not the highest bar.

I'm starting to think that what I thought was the start of a cramp in my right leg durring the TT was some thing else. Everything on the bike is spot on..cleat looks right. Dunno

I other news, my childhood sweetheart and I have a kissing date. She promised me to give me that kiss I never got. We're now exploring exactly what "kissing" means translated in present terms.

If you're not going to keep it in your pants, atleast keep it out of the forum.
Thanks. It just means that I might have a job for the fall if everything else falls apart.
I'm actually more shocked than anything else. To pass the science exams, I studied for about 5 days. I didn't study at all for the other ones...
