That's the thing. So many people are clueless. I find the clowns (usually the same ones in my local) amusing that are clearly trying to buy bikes to flip them. Or the CL Bike Police that are critiquing the seller. I don't buy bikes on CL. I sell them there. And I sold a beautiful condition Raleigh Sprite for $100. Paid $12.

it's made into a single speed with a 22ish chainring Those ultra fat 2.4 knobbies will probably move only on downhills with that.
Other than that, the mentioning of "fast", and the price, it's a fine bike.

Iuhno... with the components it has it's not a bad deal. And the S.A.S.S. COMES as a single-speed. It may be on the high-end, but it's not a bad price.
Single speeding on MTB's is about climbing, then coasting. Small gear to get up, big tires to fly down.

For $180 you'd think they'd at least be nice enough to put a chain and freewheel on.

And in what universe is a resin Peugeot headbadge worth $100?
https://sacramento.craigslist.org/bik/1762555261.html

I think I noticed these most today because I own/have owned other birds of this feather- a cheap Gitane ($10) and a Peugeot mixte ($60, and that was for the whole dang bike)

Where do people get these numbers? It's nuts. I guess lots of people who don't know anything about bikes just google the maker and price it according to the highest dollar eBay auction they come across with that brand name- which of course means it doesn't matter if the seller has a UO8 or a PX10, they'll price it like a PX10.

And to expound on that, if pressure is put on one spot of a metal tube, the rest has to react to keep shape. So, while the actual tube may be thin and lightweight, the structure itself is extremely springy and responsive and will do its best to deflect a deformation which is why it's not always very easy to dent small bicycle tubes. But once it is dented, they aren't very easy to fix.

"Top of the Line", my mick arse.

https://richmond.craigslist.org/bik/1764062053.html

Can't sellers be bothered to do even a modicum of research? Or do they just count on all the buyers being morons?

Top of what line? Boat anchors? Okay, I know the GP is a decent entry level ride, but this is way overstating the case. And overpricing it as well, especially given the large size.

And if you're going to try and charge 600$ for an eighties Peugeot (likely entry level) how about a picture?

The flying saucers must have been using their ray to wipe out brain waves in the RVA area lately or something...

What?

I sometimes wonder if people think that if their bike says "Peugeot" it automatically means their turd is actually a turd made of diamonds. I want to shake them and say, "No, it doesn't matter. Your turd is still a turd. No turd is worth $300."

I have 2 Peugeot adult bikes (3-speed). They've been barely ridden (5x max), but we've kept them an an outside porch (under a roof) so may need a little clean-up. We paid over $600 each for them, but are offering them now for $300 for one, or $500 for both.

Even the Peugeots that people actually WANT are not that good! And again, gear descriptions for the hard of thinking.
