Well... this was the winning Cat 3 team (the big guy, 2nd wheel, is a friend of mine). He was actually dropping his teammates in the valleys of the hills...
The only guy there that looks like he might be a bike racer is the cross-eyed waif at the back looking for more oxygen.
(actually the big guy is not a bike racer, but a pretty strong triathlete)

In the interests of heading to a fitting later this week.... I'm headed in to my fitter to get my TT position adjusted and such and I've got my elbows in pretty darn tight (the rests are almost touching), but my elbows feel like if I hit a big bump they might pop over the outside of the cups. Your rest looks like the sides are much higher than typical... is it an off-the-shelf system, or a one-off? (My spidey-sense says that it is about as bespoke as the aerobars)

Fits on TT bikes are very individual; there's a lot of folks that do tri type fits that aren't very aero. Be good to get some field test data before and after, and power data if you can. The art is in finding the sweet spot between good aero and good power.

I'll probably hit you up when I get stircrazy over the winter...
The setup makes a huge amount of sense - I've been fighting that issue on every ride so far w/ the TT rig.
the caution on the fit quotient is appreciated - having come from over from the tri side, I've experienced just how different those ideas can be.
that said, my fitter is a cat1 with good credentials:
and
so I trust her.
My first TT on the road this year I got absolutely massacred... it was ugly.
This next year will be a different story - I'll actually be training for stage-race length TTs, and I'll have a position to match.

Oh. that's dissapointing. I figured he was actually a national champ or something. Seems kinda like wearing a national champ jersey to me.

Crossing the finish line at a local TT. I'm a huge noob and don't have proper attire or aero ****. It's still fun though.
Here are the stats for the race:
https://connect.garmin.com/activity/44637147 (first split only... i hit lap instead of stop on my garmin)
