The OP can back up everything he's said. It seems that people who have something to prove, don't race, and aren't fast are the ones who get really perturbed at this thread. Everyone else realizes that a group ride like the one mentioned might not be for them and moves on.

Seems like you are trying to set people up for failure. If the rides are that structured and hardcore, maybe you shouldn't allow new riders to jump in on the line. This would spare you from coming across so insecure and would save other cyclists from having ride with you and your annoying friends.

Nothing to do with yelling, but I just picked up "Roadie" (written by the OP) at the local B&N last night.
