Love the concept, bet she's fastest in her class. I decided that rather than wheel swapping, just get an inexpensive SS/FG.

Nice conversion! Are there room for even bigger tires like the 42mm Hertre's with mudguards?

RockCombo's were not conversions! They came from the factory with drop bars (Dirt drops, I believe) and bar end shifters. They are among the neatest bikes ever made, if you ask me.

Got it tightened up and ridable (took a tire, a chain, a bottom bracket and about an hour of wrenching)-
I love this thing, I'm keeping it, got the matching XT RD [to the FD] coming tomorrow. I forgot how simple the fun was with toeclips, barends and thumb shifters.

1986 Bridgestone MB-1. As my habit, I've taken good care of it. It's nearly stock, with only the normal parts that wear have been replaced.
I changed the stem and bars a couple of years after I bought it new. Note the hidden rear brake - a short lived fad. Street tires on it here:

Heh, thanks, it was waiting outside the CoOp I work at a couple weeks back, donated, and seeing how it was my size and I hadn't yet claimed one for my own, I adopted it. I have about $50 in it at the moment (there are some parts on there I had lying around- shifters, levers, saddle), I'm really happy the way luck led me on this one.

I'm fairly certain by 'conversion' they mean swapping the original 26" wheels to 650b...being that they also asked about tire size clearance. So, yeah.

This thing is gorgeous. It's just so clean and simple. Very elegant. If it had some more rack mounts it would make an amazing touring conversion.

Ah. Missed the 650b bit. Must have gotten all red in the eyes when someone called a RockCombo a conversion and it blurred my vision. Either way, they are cool cool bikes.

By the way, here's an unsolicited testimonial for Forte Gotham tires. I've had a pair on my Italian-made Grizzly for several years with nary a flat, and had them on the heavily-used Panasonic for the last year with the same result. They run well, look good and are inexpensive and tough as nails.

Don't for get the Fervor, we still have 2 complete NOS Fervor's & a Pinnacle & 2 Fervor frame sets in stock at the shop I work at. One of the Fervors is full XT 7spd with the Mission Control handle bars & I think the other one is 7spd LX, we also have 2 new pair of Mission Control handle bars left. We have quite a few NOS Mountain Bikes & frames left over from the late 80's to the mid 90's that just didn't sell even with the pricing being half off. I was going to build up a NOS Cannondale 3.8 with a Pepperoni fork this summer but I have been thinking of the Pinnacle instead.

Glenn, those are MC2's and not MC1 correct? The Pinnacle XCD had Sakae stem riser roller. A Mission Control with noodle would be a sweet upgrade.
