I have a cousin who climbs that rock face (I think he's done it 3 times).

Yet he tells me his knees are too badly damaged to ride STP with me.

How does that work?!?

Ditto for the folks who laid out that road! What is all that rows of fencing off to the left?

I think that's a budding vinyard.

That was on the Solvang Double route to SLO. I volunteered SAG one year that it rained, and oh boy ... was this a place of suffering. Heavy wind, rain, and NO shoulder. The rain washed a lot of debris onto the road and there were tons of flats. I'll never forget changing someone's tube. When I went to pump the tire up, all the water that had settled in between the tire and the tube came squirting out through the holes in the tire!

Here's one from the end of the High Sierra Fall Century. As usual, we were bringing up the rear, and were rolling back near sundown. Long shadows in the Long Valley. If you look close, you can see a cyclist wearing a day-glo jersey in the distance.

Nice! I wanna talk my son into another century before he heads off to college.

So here's the biggest ass I've ever encountered riding my bike.

Awesome pix all. Loved the 30 years back pix also -- the old Bell shell helmet was a classic (still riding with mine).

From my ride at Mt. Laguna, San Diego County, last weekend: Not a great wildflower year (in past years the trail was entirely covered) but there were some:

The next day I climbed Blackstar to main divide (8.5 miles up 1800' of climbing)

I also do road: this is the week day ride around Back Bay, Newport Beach, CA

and some of my favorite photos - Monterey Bay Aquarium
