From the Furnace Creek 508 (aka Trona 353):
Long shadows riding towards Poison Canyon and to Trona. I love those lambda-shaped power poles.

I took this shot with the panorama feature on my iPhone. It was taken early yesterday morning on the Withlachoochee State Trail in Inverness, FL. I think it came out quite well. You can see the reflection of the rainbow in the water as well as a faint secondary rainbow. About 10 miles after this shot the rain came in typical FL fashion... Back to the car we went. As you can see we were the only fools out at the time. Usually this part of the trail is loaded with all sorts of two legged animals as well as some four legged ones.

Probably early next week ... I've been working like a dog since I got back! I'm also waiting on the pictures ... my crew took boatloads, but I haven't seen them yet.

Deering Estate Old Cutler
Went out for the maiden ride on my new Trek. Got a call from the coworker I sold my Canondale to. He wanted to go for a ride. We were joined by another coworker who wanted to go along. We had three types of bikes represented. My road bike, a hybrid and an mtb. We road from Black Point marina to the Deering Estate Kayak launch. Round trip was 16.6 miles. This was my first ride with companions since I've gotten back into riding. Conclusion, it was a blast. The most fun I've had riding this year. The picture was taken at the kayak launch looking out on the Atlantic.
After reading through the whole "Photo of the day" thread, I've decided to start taking my camera with me. It takes better pictures than my smart phone. Look for more pics from South Florida. I've saved several of the pictures in this thread to my computer. It all makes me want to go ride the US. I'm trying to work my body up to being able to handle tours. It's my bike fantasy.

Mathison Hamock
About a month ago I rode to Matheson Hammock Park in Coral Cables. I took this picture with my phone. It's a shot of the tidal pool looking across Biscayne Bay. If you look close you can just see downtown Miami past the Palm trees on the left and Key Biscayne in the middle.

Did some riding in the Santa Monica Mountains Saturday ... beautiful weather. Here's a look from the top of the Fernwood-Pacific climb ... and the clouds rolling in to the Santa Monica Bay.

My stuff is pretty lame complained to others but from my rides this weekend... Friday did a night ride on dirt - first time. I found it scary:
Saturday I did a local ride in Bommer Canyon. It was short...only 6.7 miles but had 1400' of climbing:
Sunday did the Upper Santa Ana River Trail. 20 miles of bike trail (40 miles total about as flat as 40 miles can get) through countryside... weather was perfect (started out cool - 50 degrees and warmed up to 80) and lots of riders were out:

I love those photos of the mountains and the scenery around them. I bought a cheap, digital, pocket camera for my rides that I no longer carry with me because I carry my iPhone. Now that the iPhone is busy with my GPS app, I guess I need to start carrying the camera for those just in case moments. I just wish that the scenery in this part of Florida is worth capturing. Not much here but swamps and pastures. Gotta start doing more riding around the beaches.

^ Nice pix, you guys. I love roads that are all mottled with shadows from the trees.
Here's another from the w/e. There's a road that dead ends about 300 feet above the Pacific, and because of that, I've never tried it. We did this weekend, and the views and climbing were spectacular. This is Malibu Point. Rockford Files fans will note the pier there, and surfing fans, the whitewater out away from the point.

On a ride this morning I saw some good fall colors! This is on Harbourton Woodsville Rd northwest of Pennington, NJ. Besides the colors, you could notice the really awful chip seal job.
Later, I was at work (not on a bicycle :-() and had to go over to the Frick Chemistry building (Princeton University). This is near the entrance. If the sign isn't big enough to read, it says NO BICYCLE PARKING. Our undergraduates seem to be ignoring it!

Not really a photo per se, but I thought you all would enjoy it. It's a pre-1900 cycling "map" of California. Way cool.

Ok, here's some Spanish moss for you -- with a full moon coming up over the lake. This is where we stayed in Feb-March 2012 before deciding to move to FL.
