Vintage Sears Roebuck and Company Bike Made in Austria

Worst pictures of the month

[h=2]Vintage Sears Roebuck and Company Bike Made in Austria - $150 (Garden Grove)[/h]

Here is a vintage sears roebuck and company bike made in Austria. From the hub serial # it looks to have been built in 1967. This bike is in original condition. The bike is a three speed. The gearing is in the hub. Brake pads are in almost new condition. This bike is in great shape for it's age. Has been stored in a shed for many years.

[h=2]70's Vintage Peugeot Cadre Allege - $200 (Duluth,MN)[/h]70's Vintage Peugeot Cadre Allege

Oh, minimal rust. Thank god everything checks out.

"Join the movement and come ride the paver downtown streets of Duluth in style on this vintage French made road bike.

I've gone threw this bike and cleaned, degreased, brushed and polished all of the metal surfaces and can ensure you there is minimal rust. The bike is in great shape. I just put on brand new tires and tubes (less than 10 miles on them) along with fresh bar tape. It brakes and shifts just fine but I would recommend a professional tune by a local bike shop. The bike is a great commuter, I used it mainly just for weekend Pub runs and it handled the ups and downs of Duluth just fine.

It's a Larger sized bike fitting riders 6ft and taller.

Cash in person. No exceptions."

I wonder if he was the guy who straightened out the fork, so to speak. For all we know, it rides just fine.

I believe one of the stops was at the trunk of an oak tree.

^I had a severely bent fork that I tried to straighten out, just to see how it would come out. (It came out straight, but the metal was buckled, so I would wouldn't let anyone actually use it.) Maybe i should have just flipped it backwards and bent it the rest of teh way to go for a kinda-sorta Bates fork like that guy did.

I've gone threw this bike and cleaned, degreased, brushed and polished all of the metal surfaces...
Well, you should've gone and threw it away.

If I ever build me a fork and frame, I'm going to make it a Bates-style just to muck with the brains of all the C&V folks out there.

But yeah- somebody ran into a parked car on a pub crawl with that one.

Wait, how do we know for sure that fork wasn't designed S-shaped like that? I know I've seen C&V forks with that lovely kind of curvature.

Yeah... I think Hetchins experimented with curly cue forks to go along with the chain stays.

I'm amazed at the number of seemingly knowledgeable people posting here that think that Peugeot has a bent fork. You could put my knowledge of classic bikes on my pinky fingernail and have room left over, compared to some people here, and it is painfully obvious that that fork was designed that way. Running into a curb? Really? You should be so lucky as to have something come out that graceful-looking after running into a curb. It would snap at the neck before it turned into the arc you see in the pictures, assuming it curved the other way to begin with. Is it a common fork for a Peugeot? No, but they are out there. That bike may have other issues, but the fork isn't one of them. I suspect there is some Devils-night trolling going on.

That's all I'm sayin! I tried to google for images of peugeot's with forks designed like that, but couldn't find any. I'd love to see some pics if you know the right terms to search for.

Interesting hypothesis...the curves do seem pretty smooth and standard looking...would be interested in that Google search someone recommended...maybe they are an after market fork? Just curious...would not buy...but...curious...

It seems like the seemingly knowledgeable builder put the fender eyelets on the front of the drops. It also looks like the axle is JB welded to the fork. The chain stays are level?? Not to mention the front tire is sitting further from the railing, and the top tube is STILL elevated in front. It's been wrecked, that's the awful truth.,,,,BD

The nail in the coffin? Would any company Peugeot or otherwise, put that style of fork on a lower end stem shifter bike? The answer is....Not likely.,,,BD

3rd image that comes up when you google search "Peugeot fork". Miraculously, it is "bent" in the EXACT same way as the fork on the bike in the Craigslist ad. Maybe it hit the exact same curb, or parked car, or whatever else you guys think that bike hit?

I don't even know what to say about this one. He even claims the Ultegra components are made of carbon. How can someone that knows enough to build this be stupid enough to claim that? Unless of course it's stolen, which is highly possible.,,,,BD

Find a catalog scan with that fork, and then we will all know.,,,,BD

Oh wait...what's this?? Some guy on this site got a bmx frame he was carrying caught in the front spokes, and VOILA! The exact same bend. The picture was the very next one after the green frame, at least on "my" Google search?
