Get paid to ride your bike (Strava users only)
Now we can all be professional riders. Expect a 1099 at the end of the year.
Connect with Strava & Get Paid to Ride | Competitive Cyclist
Connect with Strava & Get Paid to Ride | Competitive Cyclist
How it works
Sync your Strava account with your Competitive Cyclist account from this page or your My Account page. If you don’t already have an account, you'll need to create one. You will start to accrue credits once you’ve linked your accounts.
Each credit is worth $1.00 towards any purchase and may not be redeemed for cash. You can always check your balance in My Account on Competitive Cyclist.
Each hour ridden is worth $1.00 in store credit, in half-hour increments. So, a 1:45 minute ride would receive $1.50
Credits will be deposited into your Competitive Cyclist account within 24 hours
Credits will expire at 11:59pm MT on the last day of the following month. For example, credits earned for a ride in March will expire on April 30th
You can receive up to 40 credits per month
Credits are non-transferable
Multiple credits can be combined when placing an order
Time is measured in moving time
Manual entries do not count
Only the Strava activity of ‘cycling’ will count
Activity completed prior to syncing accounts does not count

Only up to $40 a month? Better than $0 a month but it's not like this is going to be the difference between a new wheelset or not.

As stated in another forum, you could buy 10,000 old android devices for $20 each, toss em in your backpack and go ride, sell your accounts at 1/4 price ($10), and make $100,000 a month

Holy crap!
I have an old Android phone...
(Of course you'd have to sell the accounts for more than you paid for the phones.)

I expect the program to end or change for that reason. Any bets on time?

Not gonna lie, I don't totally get this. I mean, they get access to our cycling data which presumably we've given them the right to resell. But that's not worth 40 bucks per month, I wouldn't think? And this is a pricey way to buy customer loyalty.
But it does pretty much ensure you can replace your white bar tape monthly, so score one for vanity.

Credits don't roll over. You have to spend your credits within a month. Say you ride 40 hrs in April, credits show up May 1, you have to use them by the end of May.

I was mistaken, credits expire at the end "of the following month" which presumably means they can last up to two months.

Ahh, I see, so credits aren't tallied monthly. But you can build up close to $80 credit, I think. I need to do some calendar gazing, though.

It's simple... If you ride 54 1.5 hour rides starting on March 1 and ending on April 28, on April 29 you'll have $80 in credits to spend before the $40 you earned in March expire on April 30.

If you front load your second month's hours then you'll have more shopping time within which to use the credits.
Now, if the 40 hour max isn't a calendar month but a 30-day period, then you wouldn't be able to front load your second month like that that.

$40 a month could actually help feed a decent habit. You could buy quite a few gels and bars for that.

I'll probably sign up for this since I have $90 in store credit with CC. An extra $80 in credits would mean I wouldn't have to wait for a sale to buy a jersey or bibs.
I like buying jerseys from CC because of their liberal return policy.

I think you could just replay previous rides on your smart trainer using Garmin files and then upload those as real rides. The same 40-mile ride could be uploaded each time, just uncheck the "stationary trainer" box and change the title.
