It means the junction they're approaching has a lot of crossing cycle traffic, or that crossing cycle traffic is difficult to see.

That is an interesting one!

Welcome to Boston where you can go from 95 S to 93 N by continuing straight east. And that sign is at the other intersection of 93 and 95, the one commonly known as Malfunction Junction.

Nice. We should start a thread on funky street signs!

Also confusing is the interchangeability of proper names, such as Washington, and Route numbers, but learning my way around Metro Boston is a very gratifying benefit of bicycling to me. On occasion such knowledge has helped me when driving through unfamiliar parts, but even more fun,

Look closely at the advice that "beautiful street" gives cyclists.

My guess: One-way for buses. Two-way for bikes. Cars use sidewalks.

Close.

One lane for buses and bicycles coming toward me (where I was standing taking the photo).

One lane shared between cars and bicycles ... only the cars are coming toward me and the bicycles are going the opposite direction, toward the cars. And that was not a wide lane.

And nooks next to the sidewalk, although probably the sidewalk too, for parking.

One of our "Cyclists Crossing signs.

This one is located at the official beginning of the Cycleway (on the right), and there are often cyclists milling about the general area, but there is a path continuing off to the left ...

Machka, does the sign indicate an obligation to yield? Or is it just a heads-up for drivers?

I'm pretty sure it is just a heads up.

Behind me ... behind where I'm standing taking the photo is a parking lot and a lot of the users of the cycleway park there, so they do generally slow up as they enter the parking lot and should be aware of the cycleway. Occasionally they will yield to the cyclists, especially if they are kind of milling about and in the way.

I've actually had rocks (small ones) fall off a cliff while I've been cycling along ... and bounce off my helmet. There are several reasons I wear a helmet.

I am not trying to stir up anything. If that's a concern in your mind, I will delete the post you object to. Then you should delete your post that quotes and responds to my post.

And I can't photograph signs at this time, so I will stay out of "your" thread from now on.

Here’s a proper Torontonian solution; in Boston, the signage likely would be ignored.

Yeah, that's more or less what they're saying over there in Perpignan.

Maybe it's their solution to the bicycle problem ... run them straight into oncoming traffic!!

Ok, I've been cruising for a few new signs.

I have to say that I think this corner was very intentional. And, it is absolutely wicked for my cargo bike + trailer.

And, of course, there is this overpass. The bike lane resumes at the other side of the overpass.

And, just in case you're driving a Fiat 500... this is to clarify that you're not supposed to be driving in a 4-foot wide lane.

Ok,

Found a few more signs.

These was from the backroads route from Eugene to Portland.
Willamette Valley Scenic Bikeway - Ride Oregon Ride
https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/BIKE/docs/WVMapsandCues.pdf

It was a backroads route covering 130+ miles with a lot of turns. It was handy to have the signs marking the recommended course.

Now, if only they extend the northern end into Portland or Beaverton

And another RR Crossing Sign.

One thing that was nice is that they actually designed the crossing so the bikes would have a little extra room to maneuver.

I've seen those WV Bicycle route signs! Sometimes I'll ride all the way home from Salem and take River Road South to Independence, which is part of that route. It's nice if I go early enough to miss the heavier traffic.
