Did I see this bike in the Village last week? Didn't get a close look but I did get a glimpse of *a* white Trek with those exact same red decals while passing.

The lower Marin's name is Matilda. For opposite sides of my riding spectrum.

definitely, i should be able to fit 43's in here so im gonna get some soma cazadero's which are semi knobbed then itl really go anywhere
soooo good. fat tires are dumb cushy and go anywhere. the mavic wheels that you had on there were light already, with these wheels i dropped 2 pounds!
they accelerate so fast, i find myself hitting 30+ mph in places where i would be going ~22 with the old wheels. i can surge like nobodys business on this thing, its really crazy. making me wonder about uci rules and 650 wheels, lol
not last week, but i do creep around soho/villiage regions a lot when i am in the city and not omw to a ride over the GWB. i always stop in stumptown on 8th
youd prolly fit it too
me too, perfect bike for me i think
generally, yes. check this page out. its got a lot of helpful info for where and what to measure to see what exactly you can do with your bike. typically a dia compe 610 or tektro r559 like im using is what youll need

Fresh Garbage
Badass. If I ever get time to get back into radonneuring I want to 650b my Univega. I did my last brevet on it and it handled great but the 28mm tires were still too harsh once I was getting through the night and early morning. I have brake calipers on hand and I wouldn't mind rebuilding the hubs I'm currently using.

This was just after my first test ride (hence the unwrapped bars). The hub is a SRAM Automatix 2 speed. It was...different. Gonna have to work myself up to pull the guts and change the shift point and see if I like it better.

never fell in love with the cowchipper bars. swapped them for some cowbells and soooo happy I did. recently added some raceface flat pedals and a racktime (tubus) front rack. really digging this setup.

How would you compare the ride quality between your straggler and nature boy?

the space horse disc will be available in the next couple of months.
my NB and straggler ride pretty similarly. I dig em both.
that being said, I wouldn't trade my straggler for anything....except for some mag wheels. that would be sweet.

Aaaaaaannnnddddd ****, I just ordered some 650b soma weymouth rims for my Trek 460 and centerpull brakes. I've always wanted beefier rubber on there. Yours looks great!

still undecided about fenders, it would obviously complete the look but as helpful as they are i find fenders very annoying to deal with
im gonna see if i can fit 43s in there first before i go getting fenders but if i do theyll prolly be some berthoud hammered jammies
