Clear simple advice on photo posting would be great
Yikes. Trying to figure out how to post a picture. Plowing through 50 pages of mostly test photo posts (many failed) with a smattering of fragmentary advice on picture posting is a little frustrating. Would be great if there were a sticky post with a complete explanation of how to do this.

Apologies for this post, but because I'm new and don't have 10 posts, I am not able to use a URL to link to pictures. This makes post #3 for me

Go advanced, manage attachments, choose file, upload, post. Sometimes you need to scroll to find commands.

It is easiest to upload a JPEG (JPG) photo. In the PC world, the file names end with a .jpg, although sometimes that is hidden.
It is best to resize the photo to around 100 KB before uploading. If you get the image just under 100 KB, it will upload it without changing it.

Thank you for the reply. It shows as a jpeg but nothing in the menu to allow a resize. Not a big deal, I just thought it would be more enjoyable to post pics. Apple doesn't play well sometimes and probably not worth the trouble I suppose.

The resize should be automatic for bike forums to make an image smaller than 100 kb. Nothing in the menu.
However, the system might choke on very large images, or perhaps some image encoding. So, I normally use some 3rd party image editing software on my PC (GIMP) to shrink the images to about 98kb using both image size & lossy compression.
There are 3rd party image hosting programs you could use, and many people like. However, they frequently delete low traffic images, and a large hosting service just blanked out all hot-linked photos, so that is always a risk.
