So I'm looking to get a Lezyne floor pump with my REI member dividend and I'm debating between the steel floor drive tall pump with the analog gauge or going with the CNC digital floor drive with the digital gauge for double the price? Is the CNC machining and the digital gauge worth that premium?

Try them both at REI. I have the analog steel one and happily use it nearly everyday

Unfortunately REI only has the analog version in stock in the stores by me.

1. The chuck that comes with it is a pain to deal with, so I had to buy another. That one was only marginally better.

2. The pump just doesn't move enough air with each stroke. As a result, it takes a LOT of pumping.

It's a pretty pump and it does actually put air into tires, but it's not nearly as good as the joe blow I bought for ~$35-40 to replace it. YMMV

Hmm good to know. I do know the new pumps are coming with the new abs 1 pro Chuck on them

Me too. Looks great but that is about it.
Dislike like it for same reasons - it is not really usable.

Really like the analog steel drive, got the tall version. Abs2 chuck took some practice and cant replace the rubber when worn. Lasted 2years. Now using a press on adapter, works fine

I've been using the Steel Floor Drive for about 7 years. Never used the chuck though. Haven't really had any problems with it. It puts air in the tires, and it's sturdy.

I think the Lezyne floor pump is the only one I actually threw into the trash.

Man there seems to be some many mixed opinions on the Lezyne pumps. I like that they seem to be accurate. I made a mistake in getting a Cannondale pump from a store that was going out of business and the gauge is off by 20 psi and Cannondale will replace it but the replacement is just as bad. My local store said they had a lot of issues with them and it was mostly with presta valves. So I just want something reliable and accurate.

Come on, the chuck is fine, I actually like it better than the flip kind. Press down, twist, and it's on. Not rocket surgery. "Doesn't pump enough air"? seriously? On a road bike, it's like 2 or 3 pumps to re-inflate a tire regularly, and, what...like 8 or so to inflate a new tube? First world cycling problems, I tells ya!

OP, my Lezyne floor pump is fine. Don't know how accurate the analog gauge is compared to a digital one, but I'm not losing sleep over a few PSI if it's not super accurate.

I wouldn't lose sleep over a few psi either but when I pumped my tires up with my last pump and they should have been at 115 psi. I was told by the bike shop when I got there that they were at 135 psi he only noticed because I asked about fitting larger tires and when he was inspecting it saw a bulge in the one tire so he checked the pressure and they were 20 psi higher than my pump gauge said which according to Cannondale is operating as it should.

Just topping off for a ride? Well, putting the stupid chuck on lost you 40 PSI, so you're gonna be doing a few more than 2 or 3 pumps.

New tube? Hah, more like 60 or 70 pumps with that POS.

You won't be sorry. Now, when I check my pressure to top off before a ride, 9 out of 10 times, I lost no pressure over night and I lost no pressure putting the chuck on and I give it a half-a-pump and take it right back off. Gone are my days of pumping away every morning in the parking lot before a ride. I now actually get time to chat with other riders and build friendships. I'm a much happier man these days and I attribute it all to finally getting away from that Lezyne pump and into a Joe Blow.

Okay, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but not by much.

My new Lezyne Super Enhanced GPS computer, however, I love... so far.

Depends on your application and your priorities. If you’re riding mountain or fat bikes too, 20 psi is a lot. The only pump I’m aware of with an accurate gauge is the Silca. Expensive as F, but when you consider that the Lezyne already isn’t cheap, and that the Silca will probably be the only pump you need for the rest of your life and will reduce these frustrations, perhaps it is worth it to you. Most accurate tire pressure gauges I’m aware of and more accurate than Silca’s Gauge is Kapius Components but that is $$$$ too, and you will have to pump, then use the gauge to adjust, which is an extra step when you just want to go out and ride. I was looking at Silca too but unfortunately REI doesn't carry them. I could get a Silca Pista for a similar cost to the Lezyne.

Maybe use your REI points for something else you can use down the line.

For a shiny floor pump, the Bontrager super charger works really well. Though I guess I doubt REI sells them.

I had a couple Joe Blows and a couple Performance house brands (Hurricanes maybe?) fail about a decade ago. Then I bought the Lezyne floor pump, which is not perfect, but it still works fine after ten years.

Yeah that is a possibility. I like the super Pista but idk if it is really worth the $235. For $100 more than the Pista I'm not sure the advantages other than a more stable tripod style base.

No experience with the Lezyne floor pump but I had a Topeak Joe Blow and I hated it. It was always a battle to get the chuck seated properly on the valve without losing all the air and then it wanted to fight me on each downstroke of the pump. I'd have to re-seat the chuck several times before I got it exactly right. Plus it fell apart surprisingly quickly.

Not available at REI but I love the specialized air tool.

Lezyne floors pumps are junk. They're pretty junk... but junk. I keep one in my garage/shop for looks. But I use a much cheaper, much better pump when I need to air up tires.

The more I look at it the more I want to just get a Silca Super Pista and be done with it but $235 is a lot of money for a pump.
