1990 Cannondale ST600 Pricing Help
I realize people either Love or Hate Aluminium Road Bikes, & this one popped up recently from a local seller. Asking price is $195.00. Size is 23". Thoughts on the bike in general as well as FMV?

Nice rider. I had an exact model (same color too) and also in 23". I paid $200 off CL and it was minty. Mine did include front and rear racks. I rode it for two years and sold it to my daughters boyfriend last year. I'd have kept it, but 23" is on my upper most size range. A 21" would have suited me better. Like others have said it is a well built bike and if your 5'10" - 6'2" the 23" frame will be perfect for you. BTW, I'm 5'8".

These are a really nice light weight touring bike very nice ride quality. If it's your size and your looking for a nicer sports or light touring bike this is one of the nicest for it's time frame. The $195 is a great price if the bike has no major issues I'm surprised it is sold already these seem to sell fairly quick in the $400-500 range in most markets one for under $200 would be gone in a day.

Really. Not in the east. Not in DC, or Baltimore. It would sit.
Anyway if it's clean it's not a bad buy. Does the bike need anything?

Where are you located as that affects price a good deal. Having said that CV seller maket is dead unless you have something really special. I have found CL to be especially dead these days, not much moving and zero buyer interest in things that I sold at the swap shortly thereafter (for higher price!).
I think 200 is about fmv--looks like it needs a new rear tire, likely a tune, etc. There is a mint 87 ST800(with an easy 300 in parts alone including some rare stuff) sitting on CL near Portland here and no sale yet with price at 400 fwiw.

The vintage bike market on CL is a tough market. And 10 years ago it was easier to find and flip stuff.
I routinely see people buying their teenage kids new thousand dollar bikes. Everybody wants a $3000+ bike, or a piece of crap to ride around on in the city.
Gravel bike market is strong (hybrid, mountain bike).

It is s touring bike! It came with Deore. It fits my style of riding. I would be all over it at that price, but would try for $175. Main points to consider ... type of riding you do ...frame size/fit .... condition of bike. IMHO, this is a "pride and joy" type of bike for a serious cyclist.

I picked up a 1985 Cannondale ST 400 at right around this price earlier this year. I did not think it was a deal but the price was reasonable and the bike is in nearly perfect shape. I'm looking forward to fixing it up and riding it as I've never owned a 'dale. rccardr told me to run not walk to buy my 'dale when it popped up on CL; but then he wants to save every orphan vintage cannondale out there, : )
By the way do the mentions not work anymore? I tried doing this for rccardr and nothing happened.

Similar offer - help appreciated
I have read through the above and based on the comments think it's a good deal to grab a Cannondale ST600 for just $125 in my area. Asked for more details but not yet replied. Size may be too small, he thinks it sold as a 48cm, seat tube measures 19.5 C-T and I'm 5'6".
Also, the bike has grip-shifters on the end of the dropbar, which I have never seen before. Anyone have experience with usability?
I am also considering a 1990s CAD2 , any idea how the two models compare? That is selling for $200-250 (depending on if he keeps the rack + fenders on).
I am looking for a bike that would be a good commuter + (med/light) touring.

I would agree that $125 is a great price. As for the shifters there not so great as said yet are pretty easy to change to traditional DT or modern brifter's since everything else should be compatible.

This early C'dale has been languishing for weeks @$150. If was a 23" I'd have grabbed it. Ad says "25"/64cm", but it looks more like a 24" to me.

Thanks for help - another found!
Hey all, thanks for the help!
Unfortunately as mentioned the size was too small for me but I luckily found one a bit bigger (21.5") for $200.
The serial number as written to the left and the right of the cable beneath the bike are:
0 (850) / 01682 (5T5W21)
I will test condition soon but does someone know what the model / serial info means?
Parentheses are written below the numbers they proceed. Slash denotes location of numbers on the left and right of cable respectively.
Other bike in considering is a Fuji Gran Tourer (cursive not white wrtitng so the lower quality steel of the two models). 54cm. All original components.

These were the only bikes that I ever had to bring with us camping/traveling...all of my st600 pictures are photo bombed by the v900... Anyhow, the st600 did absolutely whatever was asked of it, fast, slow, gravel, etc!
