I knew you had worked with him before. I wish he still lived around here, I was lucky enough to meet/ride with him a couple times.

Takes me about 500 miles on the road (trainer doesn't count) to get comfortable with my TT bike. Once its dialed in its a pretty fun bike to ride, so long as that ride is a straight line.

I find I can get into a tt position quickly. Maybe I'm just weird, so ymmv. I was spending maybe a couple hours a week on it (all easy rides) in the lead up to VoS and felt great in the event. Landed me right where I thought i would be results wise. Same goes for the other bigger stage races I did this year. Thinking ahead a ways and I maybe spending way more time on the tt bike next year.

I think I'd be into TT as a discipline, will have to get a bike some day. Not that I'd be super good per se as I'm not a big threshold type, just that I'd like it. For some reason I think I could get pretty fast with some optimization but that's easy to say from an armchair (so to speak). At any rate there's only one way to find out!

We're super lucky to have Fiesta Island here which is the perfect venue for training AND racing TT. I do a bit of aero experimentation on the road bike out there from time to time when doing my routine intervals.

Also I volunteer a lot at the local TT series on Fiesta Island and overall TT is a pretty cool scene.

this is very much wishful thinking on my part, and I'm sure the economics/logistics of such a service don't make sense, but a power meter rental service would be pretty awesome, mainly because I wish I could rent some pedal based power meters to take on my upcoming travels, since it's not super practical to travel with a wheel given how much we're bringing with us already. I suppose I could try and sell the powertap wheel, but it's been so solid and I can use it on both my cx and road bikes. first world problems lol

Had a good time out in San Diego recently, rode Mt Soledad, up the coast to Carlsbad, and got to meet @TMonk and have a couple drinks. I was also in Utah over the winter and got to meet @Ttoc6, but didn't ride outdoors while I was there. Ttoc6 was very kind to lend me some rollers so I could ride in my hotel room.

Seems I'm on a Bikeforums tour this year, so anyone here live in Clearwater Beach/Tampa? I'll be there this Friday through next Thursday. Then Scottsdale AZ in mid August and Baltimore the first week of October, would love to meet/ride with other BF members if I can.

What do you mean by that? I hardly ever use that feature. I did get an email telling me you mentioned me.

Your first quote you said that you met TMonk when you wrote it, but your post just says "got to meet and have a couple drinks" because anything you post after the @ doesn't show up. Good to know that it does tell the person you are talking about them.

Where did you end up settling? I'd highly recommend heading down to the southern part of the state (Little Compton especially), I do some riding out there from southern MA, you can find some awesome quiet roads down there and into Westport and Dartmouth in MA. I was just down there last weekend and hopefully this weekend too.

I broke my hand in RI!

Actually I lived in North Providence for a few years, and then did business up there for 15.

I'll be in Providence, east side off Hope st; seems like a cool neighborhood. I've been up there a few times and liked it, have to learn the riding secrets though!

I seem to be following you around gsteinb. I lived in Albany too for a long time before moving south.

I'll be up there at some point to do a TT I'm sure. I love that city. Much nicer than Albany.

Woof. Seems like ages ago I saw @rankin116. Been a busy year so far. I left Seattle a year ago today... which seems crazy. Done a lot since then...

Thanks dude! Might take you up on that at some point over the off season for some Fiesta Island feels. I think we're close enough in size that it ought to work. I wear size 32 jeans

Anyone else watching the World Cup? Its gotta suck being Korean American, sitting down with the family to watch Korea vs Mexico on Fox with nonobjective commentary and then hearing the announcers forget where they are and start screaming in Spanish every time Mexico makes a play...

Also that Germany Goal

I've been watching sporadically, but I missed most of the Portugal Spain game because we were headed out of town, and then I missed the only Portugal goal against Morocco because I was getting my son ready for school. Hopefully I'll watch the next game in its entirely, (they just need a point to advance) and they'll make a good run while I'm in Portugal because otherwise it'll be sad lol

The fox commentary is awful throughout. They sent in the backups once the US didn't qualify, since they knew less people would watch overall. But yeah, those two in particular were incredibly bad. I felt like I was listening to two drunk guys at the bar.

I watched it on demand later since it decided not to record, and at one point I assumed I must have picked the Mexico announcers feed, like they have for all those ticket games (nfl Sunday ticket, center ice, etc you can pick from two feeds for most games, one with each local announcer team). I'm routing for Mexico anyway so I didn't mind that part, just their general incompetence.
