Show me your Atala Bikes

I purchased an Atala bike on FleeBay which I should be receiving in a few days, but I have found no Atala bikes with the same paint scheme. I am sure there are some owners here! Please post pics, and if you know, the model.

This is a pic from the auction site, but I will get better pics. I will post some better pics once it arrives. I believe it to be an 85 model. Thanks!

If anyone has a blue & white Competezione, I'd love to see a photo.

My Clunker 100 Challenge contender from a few years ago. Don't know what model, but it is a nice ride, and I still use this bike as shown for winter errands, like when I take my car to the shop for a service.

Cool! Where is the marking for the model on these bikes? The guy I bought it from thought it was Campione Del Mundo, but I know that is not the model. Thanks - Chris

I don't know if Atala actually put model names on the bikes. From what I've seen, my bike - with Falck tubing - could be a Corsa GS.

On my old Grand Prix, the model was on the top tube.

Yeah, it was pretty nice. CroMor frame tubing, lots of nice panto details. Bought it as a bare frame with few miles and used a nearly new 1050 six speed Shimano 105 group on it. Sold it to a guy with a baby who wanted to put an infant seat on it, later found it wouldn't fit and it sat in his garage for a year. He called me up and asked me to sell it for him; which I did for a (very) modest fee. Really a very, very pretty and capable bike.

I have an Atala sample size of two. On my '70 Super Professional, there is a roughly diamond-shaped sticker just above the shift levers. On a '71 Competizione which briefly passed through my hands, there was a barely visible (white-on-yellow) sticker in basically that same location.

rccardr and I seem to have the same frame, based on fork/chrome/Cromor sticker.

Not sure about the model--some Atalas don't seem to be named. But I think you specify them as:

Atala [insert tubing] [insert groupset].

(No idea what to do with a mixed group.)

Anyway, here's mine. I've built and rebuilt it several times over the past couple summers, trying all kinds of whackadoodle variations (1x10, mtb mech/shifter, gevenalle shifters, butterfly/trekking bars, etc.) But it works best kitted with classic/conventional road bits and some nice tires.

I had a 70's era Giro D'Italia model Atala before I figured out that even if you can mount and ride a 25" frame it doesn't mean its a fit.

Thanks for the pics guys! Was travelling this week, so catching up. I am still working on the setup for mine. While it is fine as it, except the Flite saddle which I will replace, not sure it is how I want it. I will probably put different wheels on and considering either Super Record or early C-Record or Chorus. I love the tubulars, but think I am better off with clinchers.

I used to have this one years ago. I built it up for my ex. She rode it twice.

@mikemowbz's significant other is the current owner, and it's my understanding that in the summertime the bike gets lots of exercise

Oh, the frame is a repaint (by Omar in Glendale, AZ) and I did the restoration of the headbadge.

I have been lucky enough to have two lovely older Atala bicycles come my way. The first Atala was sold, years ago...

But I got lucky and this one is still a member of my little collection of vintage bicycles...

605c Atala

Built this bike for my son. Bought the frameset from an eBay seller in Italy. I had it powder coated, added the decals, and hand painted the details. Wheels are 650c tubulars.

This is an immaculate Atala. Great paint job/restoration. Parts are very similar to mine. I'll have to post pics of mine.

Folks that particularly enjoy very old Atala bikes with the ancient manual rod shifted front derailleurs, may want to follow this ancient atala discussion:
