No problems here, that was taken two years ago after I had a dog stick its snout onto my front wheel of the Tommasini, while at speed. I'm just fighting off two plus weeks of the flu. Headed to see a doctor at 1400 hrs about the lungs being coughed up here lately.

Foggy damp 46 mile club ride to Malibu from Camarillo on the old Legnano. I was the only one riding vintage steel. Had a chain suck while in a 15 person pace line, which was interesting at 25 mph. I guess my 5 speed frame isn't happy with the 6 speed freewheel I tried to stuff in there. Needs more tweaking. Nice ride though, without that pesky California sunshine.😀
Southbound, fogbound.
Halfway Starbucks break. My '64 Legnano Roma.
Northbound, Magu Rock on the left.
The bike was clean and shiny at the start.

Happy Equinox everyone!
To celebrate the first day of spring, here's...a dark black and white picture on a bit of a dreary day.
Thankfully it was around 50°, but I was threatened with rain for the last half of my 37 miles today. It feels nice to notice my fitness coming back from it's winter break.
I'm spending a lot of time on the big Trek lately, and it's really starting to get dialed in fit-wise.

Out, yesterday, on the Ersatz Gran Prix (Gitaine f/f with bits and bobs from 30 other bikes) which is one of my winter bikes. Oaks, Pa through VF Park to the Chester Valley trail. 41 miles RT under sunny skies, wind out of the west and ~ 45deg. Very nice pooter on the old wreck. There is one hillock in Valley Forge Park, near the National Arch, that has been giving me trouble all winter - leg cramps 2/3 the way up. Yesterday it was just up and over and gone. Not bad for late March. I could be ready, in time, to chase jimmuller on the CCRT, especially if he actually has NOT been riding much all winter.
As usual, too winded and knackerd to stop for photos. Boring old bike and leafless scenery anyway.

^ Eroica is a set of vintage bike rides around the world. Google the word Eroica and you'll get a slew of information to learn more about it.
I celebrated the arrival of spring yesterday with my first century of the year.
The route I used highlight the remarkable regional trail system in King County here in Western Washington.
Nearly all of this is on trails. For those familiar with the area (in case you’d like to try this sometime) the trails I stitched together are:
Snoqualmie Valley Trail, Snoqualmie Ridge Trail system, Preston-Snoqualmie Trail, Issaquah-Preston Trail, Lake Sammamish Trail, SR520 Trail, Burke Gilman Trail, and the Sammamish River Trail.
Spring 100 by NBend, on Flickr
A few pictures from the ride.
Heading to Issaquah on the Preston-Snoqualmie Trail at about milepost 6 (I walked this section)
Preston-Snoqualmie trail by NBend, on Flickr
Crossing over Lake Washington into Seattle on the SR520 Trail
SR520 Trail to Seattle by NBend, on Flickr
Climbing up Snoqualmie Ridge at about milepost 93

I had just installed some tough touring tires on the bike (35mm Schwalbe Marathon Mondial DD) and wanted to check em out. They roll really well on pavement - felt fast and smooth despite the pronounced tread of the tires but on rougher gravel they are harsher than what I am used to with Compass and Panaracer Gravel Kings that I’ve used on the bike before. I suspect this may be due to a stiffer sidewall which is what I want when riding fully loaded.

That looks like a great ride. I need to figure out the Preston Snoqualmie Ridge area.

You gonna eat that?
Another couple of rides yesterday and today. I did another 26 miles on my two-speed townie
And 27 miles on this morning's breakfast ride. The low water crossing was flooded and there was a walking event on the trail leading to the nearest bridge, so I was late to the start of the "club ride" and it turned into a solo ride. I caught up to them at the restaurant. That's me on the left.

Just a quick 6.90 mile spin around the neighborhood to do sort of a "test ride" after my LBS repaired the broken spoke on my C&V '85 Fuji road bike. Everything is absolutely perfect, and I was cruising along at (est.) 16.1 mph speed, as my stopwatch registered 25:48 for 6.90 miles. The LBS seriously lubed and regreased all main components while they had the freewheel off.
Woo-hoo!!!

No pics, just an easy 7 miler on the Raleigh Portage. First ride of the year, and I've been off the bike too long.
Had a TIA on the 14th, so were getting the meds dialed back in to prevent a stroke. Lovely.

67 miles yesterday.
First ride on the Trek 716 with 650b wheels. What an knceincred difference that made to this bike!
Wheels are 600EX hubs laced to Velocity A23, wrapped in Compass/Rene Herse Loup-Loup Pass 38mm.
I have a Velo Orange frame with the same size tires, and while it rides nice the frame is pretty stout.
Putting super supple wide tires on a nice, lightweight Reynolds 331db frame is a whole new level of comfort!
It was a bit of a struggle since my longest ride this year was 37 miles a couple of days ago. And all of the hills were in the last 20 miles

37 miles this morning thru the citrus groves of Somis, CA on the '78 Peugeot PR10. Only issue, the seat post kept slipping down into the frame. I may have too long a bolt on the seatpost clamp. The diameter seems Ok, and I think it's the correct chrome steel post for this bike. Need to look into that. It is frustrating to stop and reset the height. Good ride though. Great weather for a change.

Maybe my last chance to ride out in the woods this Spring before the deer ticks and chiggers come to life. 19+ miles in the Jersey Pine Barrens, Penn Branch ("Orange") Trail out behind Batsto, Burlington County NJ.

No pictures to share, rode the regular roads around our rural, farming area. First ride in three weeks, plus, I kind of feeling weak from that flu and bronchitis bout, but it felt great to ride the 8 miles I managed to work in. It showed that I had been off the bike and, had gone back to work for the first time also. Too windy from a front moving thorough last night, but the rest of this week looks promising to work on rebuilding my fitness. The Medici is getting the nod for now, and the Tomassini will be getting its new clincher wheels built starting this weekend.

I never thought about ticks being a problem when riding, but I'm not a mountain biker. Do you avoid all warm weather riding or just take some kind of extra protection? My favorite every day ride goes through a swampy low area and last week & w/e's warm weather has brought the bugs out....a little to big to be called no-see-um's. It was cool late afternoon yesterday so hopefully they didn't survive the night. These tried to hitch a ride to warmer weather.
If I do go to hike, etc, I make sure to use Permethrin on my clothes.

^^^ Recently i’ve been riding a Batavus.
Still looks winter-ish, but Spring is coming out of hiding.
