Good eye. The photos weren't supposed to capture the right hand shelving units. Up above on the right are two Ultimate discs from the '78 and '79 Worlds at Pasadena (Hi-C stamped). I played ultimate in college. I play disc golf actively, but have eschewed the PDGA registration so far. I don't need to track any statistics and don't want to pay the fees for PDGA events.

@Phil_gretz I was in Pasadena for the overall worlds in 80 and 81 and practised with Santa Barbara Condors. I was PDGA #1581 but let it lapse; it's been many years since I played a round. Still have my old discs and still love a stable 40 mold Midnight Flyer.

I didn't see all the discs in the racks!. Just the ones in the bag on the floor as well as the Innova sticker. Crike.

That is WAY too organized a shop and bench!!! I have a serious issue that if I have a bare flat surface in my garage, it has to have something on it to take up that space!!! My workbench is 8' by 30". Not to mention a rolling box as a bench for my vise, and a rolling table for working on my cars...

My workbench runs along one wall of the shed. I put up the pegboard about a year ago and got partway through organizing my tools. A Park Tool stand is behind me when I'm at the bench and behind that a confused array of gardening tools, camping gear, Christmas decorations, unused dinnerware, toys set aside for grandchildren one day, etc. It was raining when this picture was taken and my wife piled the cushions from our lawn furniture on the bike side of the shed. Oh, the outrage!

Thanks! I built it in the early 90's when someone offered me a pile of rough sawn maple for a couple of hundred. I didn't have the gear so I took a continuing ed woodworking course at a local high school that had all the right stationary tools. It took me the whole thirteen weeks, 3 hours per weekly class to take it from lumber to finished bench. The teacher was a great mentor and also rode a Frejus when I was still riding 'modern' bikes. He helped to plant vintage bike consciousness in me. Fortuitous all round.

With winter over, I need to go through the garage in general. This axle needs a little more cleanup, then it goes under my Jeep (replacing a noisy 240,000 mile axle). Then with clear workbench, this former shipping box cleared off, I have an engine to refresh and install in my truck...

Yeah. Had to give up the bike riding thing.
But I love tying flies. My main creative outlet these days.
I also twist up my tire savers here, when it's clean enough to do so.

Tying flies is one of the most relaxing and satisfying things I've ever done. But it can be a gateway into other things, like rod building. Be careful, is all I can say.
Looks like you have some nice gear and flies there, Scott!

I have store bought and home-made. I recommend make your own. Fir is pretty durable and not as expensive as hardwood. I used a piece of Oak veneer plywood on top for a more durable surface, but after a while didn't bother with it anymore.

Back in the 90's, I got a cut rate, knockoff, European WW bench. Hardware was OK, it was made of plantation Teak and cost way less than a Sjoberg's. Later, when we built our current home, I modified it with a 52" scrap cut off a Fir Beam to replace the useless tool tray. Couple of 4x4 legs were added in back to support the extra weight.

Two other 7' cut-offs I made into a big bench with 4x6 legs. Later added the vises. There was also an 8' piece of Glue-Lam beam left from the Garage door header. A 42" piece made a bench for my Foley saw sharpener. The remainder became a grinder/vise bench in my garage.

I hand cut top of the legs to fit large dovetails cut in the bench top. This makes a very solid work bench.
Or you could make 2 good saw horses and lay a premade countertop from one of the big box stores on it, then add a good vise. Don

Woodshop bench, I don't have a picture of the metalshop bench.

Custom. 42" tall. 2x4 construction. Top is 3 layers of MDF. Flat, solid, cheap - pick all 3. Built in router table.
