If you do come to RVA, Chesty Puller's Birthplace/hometown/burial spot is only about 30 miles from RVA.You could make a pilgrimage there.

The AC in my office is not working this morning. I'm waiting for a tech to show up. Definitely feeling like Buster Poindexter at the moment.
I got this crank in for the Turbo. It is the 110/74 crank that was at the top of Sugino's lineup and matches the BB. It will start as a 50/34 compact. If I don't like the gearing, it will morph to a triple. Cyclone derailleurs will go on with a long cage GT in back. Suntour barcons. I am going to use the Jagwire Sport old school compression looking cable. I need to figure out which color of grey/silver and order it today. Black tape/hoods. I could use that shiny silver Fizik tape that matches the head tube. Probably black.

The Turbo will start out with a 6400 8 speed wheelset. It could go to something higher.

Is that the steel ring mountain bike version of the Biopace?

That was the way it was listed on the Bay. I don't know. If I left it on, it would mimic the black outer ring on the 84 Turbos. Hmmmm.

Here's a question for the thread. The Sugino AT on the crank arms originally was filled with black paint. In situations like this, should you fill it back in or leave it be?

I've got 4 Centurion Ironman bikes and 5 Ironman shades. Each One has a purpose. Separate ones for biking, running, driving, triathlons, and one I keep in my gig bag. They're made by foster grant.
I had posted about some day having matching helmets, shoes, shades and shirt for each Ironman I have. And I think I unintentionally dud that. As they are black for the Carbon, blue for the '89, yellow for the MV, and red for the '86 Classic.
When I first got my '86 Classic, I got red and black shoes, and red and black helmet. Little did I know I would end up with at least 3 more Ironman. I say at least because I still have hope to get me an '85.
I'm repeating myself here, but in 86-87 I had a panasonic dx 3000, it was yellow and black. So I got a yellow and black helmet, shoes, swimming trunks, shorts and jersey. In '88 I got a blue pinarello and got blue everything. In '89 I got red and white but this time I had to get Lake brand shoes instead of my usual sidi. '89 I went purple, '90 red white and blue. Yeah crazy. But I figured if I couldn't go fast at least I could look good going slow.

Fill it in. I hope your wife tells you what to wear. Your fashion sense is "no mas," but you do build a nice bike.

I think we could take a nap after then head out in the afternoon for a ride also. We could ride around RVA seeing the sights and hitting some breweries. We could get up on Sunday morning and ride the VA Capital trail that the event was on. The RVA airport is located close to the Capital Trail. We could finish the ride, find a place for travelers to shower and take you to the airport. We could make it a mini C&V weekend for all that wanted to come. It could end up being a pretty good time.We have Doc and Hugh and Bill. I'm guessing there are others out there that might be interested.

After looking at this year's results, the hardest part of the Relay event might be coming up with a better name than some of the teams listed. There are some good team names on the list.
Doc won't run, but he can definitely ride, make wry comments, and use words like "sublime."

I'm in if I don't have to sweat.
The last team I was on was called the Murkin-Fitters Union.

BTW, Pat, down to low 180's, so about 20 gone from the 201 I started at.
Rode 1011 miles so far in June, that probably did it, following 700 in May.
I'm still fat, but I can ride. I get into the 170's, get in a hard ride, then binge.

I'll have you know that I am my own man. Why, just this morning, our team training run was in Independence Day colors. The wife says,
"What shirt are you going to wear?"
"I have this red one with white lettering and blue stars or this blue one with an American flag on the back."
"Wear the red one."
I'm not one to be bullied so I had to make a stand. I thought briefly, to myself, about wearing the blue one. Then I came to my senses and put the red one on.
I really showed her who the boss is.

Good for you on the 20 gone. I'm down about 6. Best idea I've had in a long time. Make it a goal with something riding on it and it happens.

Great Cycling Challenge in June, and you, are responsible. 1071.8 miles in June, and I'm taking tomorrow off. Big thanks to @nomadmax and @speedevil for combining on 178 and 138 of those miles, respectively.

Hat's off to you. Tremendous job! How many different bikes and saddles in the rotation during the 1072 miles?

Every time this thread flips to a new page I'm going to requote markwesti's built for speed post. That way, we are forced to look at it when we scroll to the newest posts.

Yeah that seller has some cool stuff. And it seems in poster form. They seem to be all about the same price too. Also a lot of triathlon stuff. It's as if it's an estate sale find.

I put the wheels from my '89 Summertime Blues in my '88 Carbon Midnight Rider. I haven't ridden my Carbon Ironman since I changed its components to Dura Ace 8 speed. I still haven't found permanent wheels for it yet.
Still, it's a beautiful day after the storm last night and I'm stoked about finally getting to ride my Carbon. I'm thinking a minimum of 40 miles, throw in some hills so I don't get bored and to help keep my effort honest.😉
