Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Freakin sweet, but the Thomson post doesn't belong; the aesthetic is too modern. Probably get away with the Fizik seat on its own, but otherwise it looks like it needs more modern stuff to go with the post.

Can I know something more about this bike, make and model? Is the fork original?

Asking because I purchased a Tange steel aftermarket fork which appears identical. It is a 3Rensho replica and LC21 aero lugs which look similar to yours.

Actually, I agree. Just waiting to find the right Campagnolo Aero seatpost and then maybe a different white saddle. Still, I ride them all so the saddle working for my butt is more important than it's looks.

If I find one I'll be going with a white Fizik Kurve Chameleon for how comfortable they are to me.

Actually I'd love to find some old Silver Shamals or Zonda's or the like to put on it. Tubulars of course.

Normally not opposed to Carbon wheels on classic steel but in this case I'm not seeing it.

I have done that on a couple of others.

The bike is a 1970 Raleigh Professional and the fork is original. No idea if the chrome is factory-applied. I think lots of manufacturers used similar lugs, though most Raleighs from that period sported Nervex lugs.

Made a few changes...different saddle since I happened to have this one and initially the other saddle was fine but only until the 30 mile mark and this one has been much better, Ambrosio polished tubular rims and Veloflex Arenberg tires plus the correct brake hoods.

Nice, but I would rather see a red label Selle Italia Flite on there.

A four arm crankset and downtube shifters? Okay...

The Lizard Skin bar tape has the gloss to work in a retro context, I reckon

Funny you mention that. That’s the saddle I had there before and it had to go, I couldn’t ride it for more than 25-30 miles. This one is much better.

That crankset is hideous, and the rear derailleur isn't helping anything in the appearance department. I'm not a big fan of those hubs either.

Lol you must have terrible taste. These hubs are gorgeous, everyone that sees them in person comments on how beautiful they are.

Record hubs are gorgeous, those hubs are tacky.

People that have bought Curtis Odom hubs will disagree By the way, a couple years ago I was looking for high flange hubs and I almost got me a set of sheriff star hubs, glad I didn't do it. I love Campagnolo but those hubs had a tendency to crack_ I found these through a Google search and I'm glad I did. The quality is top notch and they roll forever.

Not high flange really but I also looked into Royce Venus hubs, maybe for some other build...

+1. Pretty sure those holes aren't a real smart shape to put in a hub flange either.

Take a better photo.

Pretty hot, but the red hubs stick out a bit

Yum on the Bianchi other than the red hubs but just a minor distraction. Sub 14lbs is still nice!

I like this, minus the hubs which just clash IMO.

I'm not anti-celeste (the newer, more vibrant version of it, anyway), but I like to see non-celeste (aka black) Bianchis from time to time.

That would be a super hot bike........if you would get rid of the hubs and trim the cables. Old school HF hubs are classy, but those hubs look like you have a pair of brake rotors or dork discs on each wheel. Yuck!

Edit: The brake calipers are kind of homely for a vintage looking build also.
