Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Mrs. Doug28450 wants a wine cooler/refrigerator. Any ideas on a smallish 18-24 bottle unit?

I don’t use one, I’m almost exclusively a reds guy. But don’t give Mrs BD any ideas.

There is a woman here in our NJ office whose last name is Bednarik. We have never been introduced so I don't feel comfortable asking her is she's related to Chuck.

Nothing was better than Life Cereal, properly soaked and allowed to become soggy. I used to put my bowl in the fridge for a few minutes to allow it to reach perfection without the milk becoming warm.

Our hotel room has a fridge, a table fan, a bedside light, and a TV with cable box. Two receptacles nowhere near any of them, except the TV. A common malady in these parts. Decorations all.

The dogs and I all have a handful of Life cereal every morning. I dump load of blueberries on mine, with a little milk-the dogs eat theirs straight.

No kidding? I'm so old and scared, I don't even eat whole wheat bread anymore. But now I'm freakin hungry!

Just got an announcement of a local, unsanctioned, CX/gravel race with an ebike division. Is that a "thing?"

Seriously. As said, just a handful, which compliments the double the amount of blueberries nicely.

There's a fun debate happening right now on a local cycling club's facebook page about whether ebikes should be allowed on group rides or not. A lot of easily triggered hot taeks on both sides.

Take every dumb ebike thread you've ever read on BF and then multiply it by a clueless rightenousness factor of 12 and you have facebook debates.

I hate the internet most days.

I was the exact opposite. I hated it when it got soggy. I spent a lot of time figuring out just the right ration of milk to cereal to prevent the soggies.

Speaking of hotels...I just booked a rom in Brooklyn. I was offered various rates. The details of each says that it "Includes WiFi and continental breakfast." I select my rate and go to pay. Along with the various NY taxes on hotel rooms, there is a $17+ amenities charge. When I check the details of what comprises this charge there is listed, among other things (including free use of a hotel bike), WiFi and breakfast. But the rate details say they are included in the base rate.

I hate the internet most days.
Two group rides - one where they're welcome, one where they're not. Done.

The facebook general cycling page for the Twin Cities is actually pretty decent. There's certainly some cluelessness and righteousness, but it doesn't usually drown out the sanity. Also, there are a handful of really knowledgeable people that participate: some LBS employees, some LBS owners, wheel builders, and even some custom frame builders.

I, too, hate the internet most days.

I've never even thought to look for some of my favorite cereals from childhood. Mostly, I assumed that they were no longer around. Now, though, I'm wondering if those fond memories are best left unchallenged by my adult palate.

They are. Several years ago I was at a budget hotel that offered Fruit Loops as part of breakfast. Couldn't resist. Mistake.

FWIW, if the ride is "social" and emphasis on fun, I don't have a problem with ebikes.

If the ride is spirited/competitive, I would suggest the e-bikes seek our the social/fun rides.
