Here's your Schwinn PDG seller, apparently ready for the Summer bike buyer rush. Has other listings. Why is it continually relisted? Why no answer to replies or to potential buyers?

That is a 21" PDG R50 and it looks to be in great shape. If you can get the original fork, you should be all over that. The shifters, brake levers and fork have been switched out but everything else looks like the original parts. Those are even the tires it came with.

I'd probably be more interested in the PDG 40 due to the fork situation with the R50, but the seller is elusive, responds with vague answers or not at al, and crank addict suspects it's a scam of some kind. Apparently 'seller' has another bike that c.a. was trying to buy.
The other PDG I'd found (or thought so) was a 1991 70 on Facebook marketplace, but that guy doesn't respond at all to messages. Possibly he's not getting them.
I'm just going to buy a Huffy and be done with it all.
(btw beicster: my mom was a Berea graduate and had a lifelong connection with the college and town. Beautiful place. We visited there when I was a kid and ate at the Boone Tavern, possibly stayed there. In retirement she and my dad were there often. My family and I have stopped over there several times, including once staying at the Tavern, but we missed the dinner seating.)

For something light, I suggest a LATE '80's - '90's bike and adapting the cockpit to make it as upright as you like with the right bar/stem combo. By this time the mountain bike ideal was based on NORBA race bikes - shorter wheelbases, lighter frames, more aggressive (lower and more forward, similar to road bike position) geometry, long stems and narrow flat handlebars and lighter parts. If I were looking for something both fast and comfortable I'd go this route (or a hybrid or sport touring frame.)
For something "cruising ready" the '80's bikes are good - longer wheelbases, upright bars (bullmose!), heavier frames and parts. In the early days mountain bikes were designed to be versatile and heavy duty. I run a mid-eighties Norco as my basket/baby carrying bike and it's great for the task. It's way more comfortable and stable than fast and nimble.

Same seller also has an Olmo listed, equipped with 'dork disc', 'wheel reflector' and Campy Delta brakes. Appears its been reposted at least two dozen times.
A very good friend of mine called the number, primarily interested in the Olmo. Apparently it continues to be listed but not available. Seller who answers the phone always replies "hold on, let me call you back". Disconnect.
Doubtful the Stumpjumpers exist as well. Weird.

Speaking of Schwinn Paramount mountain bikes, the Project KOM-10 came between the Paramountain and the Paraamount in chronology (1988-1989). Grandpa's bike didn't need any decorations for the 4th of July parade in my son's neighborhood. Younger grandson like's big brother's MiniCooper stroller.

Update: I bought a 1987 Schwinn Cimarron from wrk101! Deal worked out for both of us as he had a road trip planned that would bring him up fairly close to Chicago, so Mrs Al and I had a nice day out in the country, including a hike at a restored prairie we'd been meaning to visit. Bike is mostly original, missing only pedals I think. 17" size should work for either me and Mrs Al, while the 17" (ctt) High Plains (not High Sierra) 'ladies' I'd bought earlier seems small. Obviously need to compare more closely. I'll take pics of the Cimarron once it's shiny, which may take a while.
BTW this Cimarron is red. I'd love a green one as I have a grey-green Brooks I need to find a bike for. ;- )

The frame size should be close to what you want, but I haven't received the pics yet and not sure of its condition.
It will also have some special provenance interesting to cyclists.
Let's just say it will put you closer to Frazz than most people.
Watch the C&V Classified section in the coming weeks.
If not, I expect to be selling a Bridgestone XO for a friend soon.

An XO would be cool but I imagine a bit more 'collectible' (=$$$) than I'm in the market for. But you never know!
