Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Lots and lots of rolling hills. Every year just circumnavigating around My Fair City (Lincoln, NE), Gravel Worlds 150 puts on a race with 10-12,000ft of climbing in one day. There's all of maybe 100m of absolute elevation change ASL from one side of the city limit to the other.

Flatness is very misleading from an on-the-ground POV, and some topographers actually did a big project on it using high-resolution GPS data:

California itself is about as flat as Nebraska is--when you look at it mathematically at the entire state terrain. While the later has lots of rollers--the former has mountainy bits but even more flat basins etc.

Well, then you could really use those stiff 6 bolt disc brake hubs.
6 bolt... international standard
Centerloc.... Shimano standard

I love rollers, and yes, we don't have enough of them in California.

CL is an international standard....Even Campagnolo got over themselves and uses it.

Trust me....come ride the hills of the Mississippi Valley and you will understand. There are miles and miles of rolling hills. Really, there are no flat miles around here at all!
Last night's ride was 23.5 miles, with 1765 ft of elevation, and i was not searching for hills!

My first experience with centerlock didn't go well. It looked like a Shimano BB bearing wrench should work, but it didn't get the ring tight enough. Kept coming loose. I finally got a better tool for it, the bb bearing tools that aren't sockets do work. I probably would go with centerlock on most of my bikes, how often do you swap rotors? And $25 will get you a suitable tool for it.

I guess you've never been to Dubuque.
