Trek 520
Hi All, I stumbled across a nice condition 1983 Trek 520 in Gunmetal Blue yesterday. As much as I would like to ride this frame it is just a little too large for me (25.5"). I would be interested in a swap for something a few inches shorter, something in the neighborhood of 22"-23" seems to work for me. Doesn't have to be the exact same bike, just something of similar quality/weight.
Would also consider trade for some cranks/aluminum wheels I can use for my Motobecane. I can post pictures later when I get a chance but thought I would post in case someone is looking for something like this, a really nice riding and lightweight touring frame constructed from Reynolds 501 with manganese alloy fork and stays.

I did disassemble the pedals, completely cleaned the internals, and repacked the grease in all of the bearings as they were really gummy. My original plan was to give it a deep clean and polish, then service the hubs and bottom bracket. One nice feature of this bike is the original owner upgraded it to barcons (lock nuts both still present!).
The more I think about it I would either rather frame swap and use these components or just exchange bikes. This might be best as I feel like it would be a shame to break this up as it appears to be original and untampered with. After riding this a bit my old Moto (74—75-ish Mirage) just can't compete with this except in the appropriate size department.

Hi Ruben, here are some pics, I haven't had much time to do a lot to it yet. I cleaned up the front wheel and tire as it needed a tube anyway, the back wheel is still filthy but should clean up great. The paint is in really nice shape and the tube sticker is still pretty nice as well.

I was out testing brakes in the neighborhood and neighbor says “hey want another bike”
so..... I have a 23” (59cm) Motobecane Grand Record in my living room.

I would say it is well worth saving and should not be disposed of. What size frame are you looking to swap for? Or are you just trying to see if someone wants it?

I could definitely make that work for me. I've been halfway looking for one after restoring a Grand Sprint last year. I have a 62 Grand Touring frame that's just to big. I could pickup in SF. My son lives up there.

Post a frame you don't want. Hope someone posts one you do want. Two-way trades, three-way trades, fifteen-way trades, whatever you want. But all parties should agree to all stages of the trade before sending anything.
My submissions... deleted. I gave them to friends.
Edit: We now have a SPREADSHEET giving the dimensions of a frame that would fit, and going into some detail about the frame(s) we're hoping to be rid of. I didn't make the spreadsheet, we have Dashuaigeh to thank for that. SouthPawBoston tweaked it a little. So did I. Suggestions are welcome!

Yeah, it's a good idea. I haven't looked at that spreadsheet in years, but it looks like it has inherent problems. I don't know how much can be done, but it looks to me like it should automatically sort so the newest thing appears at the top. I doubt the stuff at the top of the list is relevant at all any more.

For me, seat tube angle is an important part of essential bike fit - saddle height plus saddle setback, and saddle setback plus TT length gives me reach. STL plus saddle setback gives me an estimate of stack, in turn.

I added a new entry to the spreadsheet. I have a frame which is too small for me (built up into a bike for my wife but she didn't like it). I'm looking for something roady-ish, 61-62cm seat tube, probably 57-59cm top tube, 126mm rear spacing preferred.
This frame is an oddball:
It will come with a seatpost (ASPI - Spanish) and headset (Tange Levin CD). For a few bux more, I can provide Campy french bottom bracket cups (not a complete bottom bracket though).
Its current status:

BTW, was there a decision about sorting in the spreadsheet? If we sort by column D in descending order, I think adding new entries at the top makes sense. My entry currently sits at the bottom though. It's the only one so far which has an "added" date.

Seems quite unlikely that Google spreadsheets would be so infected. If it legitimately has a Trojan, we're all in big trouble. I don't know what anti-virus (?) software might be reporting that, but I suspect they need to update their fingerprints.
