I made an appointment with the GP for next week because even the so far very short trips on the bike are kicking my butt. (I'm taking a multivitamin with iron and have been hitting the trainer for ~30 minutes a day/3 times a week for a month or so.) I'm tired most of the time and oftentimes I wake up more tired than when I went to sleep. I mean I'm naturally tired when I go to sleep at night but when I wake up in the morning I'm like "What was the point of that exactly?" I was pretty sad today because LoP rode down to OHSO for a burger and we did that before together and I also got a lovely mimosa and even though I'm not eating beef anymore I could still have had a drink and a chicken sandwich or something. But I knew there was no way in hell I'd be able to make the whole trip so I had to just give him a kiss and send him on his way. Please tell me this is going to get better.

Since I was last here, I got an A in Spanish. I took Photography this summer and discovered I love working in the darkroom especially when it's just me and the chemicals and the music and colored digital photos are okay but black and white and on film seems more natural because that's how the world was growing up. Surprisingly, in spite of my off-beat choice of subject matter and having never really used a digital camera, I got an A in that class too. Right now, I'm taking Intro to Linux, Intro to Computer Information Systems and a Networking class that meets from 8:30 to 12:30 Saturday mornings. (I know, right?) We're going to attempt to ride over to class tomorrow although I don't know what LoP will do for the four hours I'm in class. Usually he would ride around and Ingress if we went together but that will be less convenient on the tandem than on a single bike.

And, finally, I was listening to a podcast called "Twenty Thousand Hertz" and they were talking about digital compression and the first song on the first Black Sabbath album and I realized I had never listened to that album or much Black Sabbath at all. So, now I have heard that and enjoyed it and am looking for recommendations. LoP says "Master of Reality", which is also Black Sabbath, but I'm completely open to other groups as well. Something to listen to while I'm sitting on the floor in a semi-darkened room -because most rooms are like that in houses in Phoenix- doing my homework.

I'm with you. It's so much easier to park and just get it done, rather than circle like a vulture for the next available spot. Plus, people are very strange in regards to their car, which is their pride and joy until road rage and manners come into play. If they really want to put their 2019 Lexus up against my 1998 Ranger, I'm in. Come at me, bro....

It seems like the first cold ride each fall leaves me thinking, "why am I doing this? This is dumb." Then I let one or two riding opportunities pass, because of the chill. Then I get cranky at being cooped up. Finally, I'll bundle up and venture out again... and it's not so bad. Somewhat enjoyable, even.
...and then, in MN, it gets really cold and I get on the trainer like any sensible person should.

With the rainbow trout livery would be very cool especially if we hung it up on a wall when it wasn't being ridden, but you might want to wait until after we move.

Yeah, you haven’t lived if you’ve never had a full fledged bout.

Sweet! Tell Mrs. LAJ her truck is bad ass. I asked what year because I was hoping she got a 2nd Gen. All kinds of issues with the new(er) 3rd Gen 3.5, including problems with the transmission. Lots of people wishing they had held on to their old Taco instead of "upgrading." I have no intention of ever giving up my 2012.
I wanted the 5.7 Tundra before that goes away soon too. It's going to be replaced with a V6 and it sounds like it might be a hybrid. No thanks.

I thought about a fat bike, but I know I wouldn't ride it that much. It's so seasonal and even then, there would only be a handful of times I would ride it in the snow and cold. And they're heavy and slow. Fun if you live in a ski town and ride it to the bars, but I don't live in a ski town.

When I lived in the PNW, by the middle of November it had been gray and/or raining for sixty days and I'd complain and my mom would say "Why don't you just move to Arizona and we'll all be happier?" Having spent two years and somehow three summers here, her reasoning no longer makes sense. I'm no Belgian hard man but up north you put on more clothes and unless it's completely nasty you go out. (My standard for that is lower than LoP's but I've gone out in the rain and wind especially if there were cheesy grits involved.) Unless you like to ride at 5am, it is going to be in the 90s+ most of the year down here and it's tough to dress for that. Plus the drivers are nuttier. I bet they sell a lot of trainers.
