Exactly a week away from our hometown 1/2 Ironman triathlon. Unfortunately due to a recurring/possibly chronic back issue/pain I've trained very sporadically the last 4 weeks!
Physically not 100% but mentally I'm ready to roll.
Here's a pic of the Ironman steed I'll be racing...I mean participating on.
Training Mode.
With racing wheels. Those are giro tubulars @markwesti

With those Jets mounted, I'm guessing you leave a vapor trail.

Yep yep, Waco.
I was born, raised, and almost run out of Waco. I absolutely love it and always have.
I actually contemplated using my '86 Classic for the triathlon but decided i need the 2-3 lbs advantage. Also since I changed my goal from breaking 6 hrs to just completing the tri, I thought about just using my training wheels, but again I need the help of the TT wheels.
I've got 4 Ironman bikes all but one is set up for triathlon as that's what I enjoy and train for.

Are you putting them in trainers or are you outside all year? What do your other setups look like?

Just found this Cannondale "Ironman" on CL. I never knew such a thing existed. Is this just creative decal application, or an actual released model? Would be silly to call an aluminum bike an Ironman, IMO, since it's neither human nor made of iron.

It was an actual model offered by Cannondale.

Here you go. I was 19. I'd never been over 12 miles before. 2:36:08. Pain was the theme. Yes, pain. I remember.

Thanks, Robbie. That's a good looking dude, there! He probably had to fight the women off like that guy in the High Karate commercials. Time marches on, doesn't it? Check out the Datsun station wagon in the background. I haven't seen one of those in a loonngg time.

All my Ironman are set up about the the same with the exception of my '89 which is a size smaller which is perfect set up as a Road bike.
My '86 Classic has 6 speed dura Ace (for the most part) and the Original Scott DH aero bars and original gripshift. That's my favorite set up. My '87 Miami Vice has 7 speed gripshift with original components. My '88 has 8 speed gripshift with dura ace for the most part. My '89 Summer Time Blues has almost all original 7 speed setup as road bike but hopefully soon will be 9 speed dura ace.
I like the original aero bars, gripshift, and Dura Ace, AND I love the Ironman bikes.
Pics to cone....when we get to 300 pages. Hopefully everyone will post what they Have at that point.

Nice one sir, I was a distance runner in HS and a decent one (top 50 in state) one but never had the desire to run a Marathon, I did 12 miles with my older brother, who was a College distance runner, once and thought I was gonna die. Funny, I could run hard for 5k, train at 10k but doing 15k seemed like going to the moon.

Something like this is what needs to be on a Marine recruiting poster. That's a lean, mean fighting machine, there. Maybe a before and after photo. Not that you might have been much different before, but still. Where did you get the big trap muscles from? Did they come from hauling milk pails or Paris Island?

Those aerobars are the original Scott attachments circa '88, '89.

So was there a "Disco Sucks" bumper sticker on the back of that Datsun? (Or maybe disco didn't suck yet?....)

Yeah, "The Few, the Young, the Dumb."

I sure did carry a lot of milk pails from the barn to the bulk tank.
Dad would not spring for a Stepsaver, so we carried the 5-gal buckets to the tank, 47 cows, 2x a day.
I entered Parris Island at 128 lbs, a lean, mean, fighting mosquito.
Left in 3 months at 158 lbs, and this is about a year later.
There surely was no extra mass in that brain cavity.
Now, this is a lean Mr. Greenjeans fighting machine.

PAGE 300?! WoW!
Time to post a pic of what you GOT.
Here's my '86 Classic. It has "IT", ride, feel, and Fit. If I had to choose only one, this it. If you have ever had a bike that let's you truly enjoy cycling then you know how I feel when I ride this one.
I need to update all my pics because of different tires. But it still has Dura Ace fd,rd,bb,hs,hubs. 600 crankset, brakeset, aero seatpost. 6 speed gripshift, scott aero bars. oem saddle and stem

The stuck seat post is free! And by that I mean, it costs nothing, not that it's no longer stuck.
