Identifying a Colnago
I have my eyes on this Colnago. Terrible pictures and won’t be able to check it out until Monday. Any Colnago specialists out there that can help?

You're probably looking at a late 80's to mid 90's bike.
Size, maybe 56-ish.
"Pointy Hoods" means the shifters are probably 8 speed or early 9 speed Campagnolo (late 9 speed got rounded hoods). Sorry, I'm not great at discerning Record/Chorus/Mirage, etc... at least without closer inspection of parts.
I'm having troubles discerning the tubing shape. It almost looks like it has an ovalized downtube which wold be relatively rare, I think. There is an "Oval CX", but it doesn't seem to match that.
There are a a few common tubing shapes that Colnago used.
Round (Super, Superissimo, early Mexico, and others).
Diamond (right, above). Master series.
Octagonal (left, above). Spiral Conic. Generally only downtube. This would be a definite possibility for the bike above.
Round with simple crimp on sides. Nuovo Mexico.
Oval. Oval CX
???

I suppose the first question should be the asking price.
< $500... it doesn't matter, good price if the bike fits.
$500 to $1000... Likely a good deal. Find what you want.

That’s what I was looking for. I know the risk of posting an active auction, but it comes down to what anyone would pay. I know where my max is. Just not overly familiar with the models. Thanks for the info.

Late 90’s - the little “riding man” on the top tube showed up in ‘97 or 98. Before that it was the clover leaf on the top tube. My guess is Tecnos. Those have round seat tubes. I think Masters have a shaped seat tube.

Got it. It turns out to be a Crystal with Record 9 speed shifters and brakes, Veloce crank, Racing Triple RD, Racing T FD. Should clean up nice with a good tear down. I better enjoy it now because I let all you know where my honey hole for finds.
