I would certainly try that first. The alloy Weinmann's are fairly easy to come by and usually cheap enough so not a big gamble $$$ wise. They spanned a long time and I think were largely unchanged for the whole run just not sure when they started. They came on a lot of Schwinn's and many others but might be hard to find the super long reach ones.

Would prefer black but can work with silver finish as well. Also need same vintage Dura Ace headset for English frame.

That's what's on there now. I know the pads are an issue, but I've also looked down at the front calipers while braking (and while simulating a hard brake while pushing the bike forward). The flex is disconcerting, but I think I'm going to try going with new pads first. Any recommendations? Is here something that's fresh, black, has a good bit of surface area and doesn't look like it crash landed in 2003?

N.B. Record bottom bracket spindles are different from Nuovo Record spindles to account for the difference in cup thickness. Once you have matching cups, you need to be sure you have the proper spindle for the cups you have.

Joe, I'm in the Boston area and have a new set of V-O Porteur bars and, I believe, a set of Weinmann/DiaCompe levers to fit. Will your daughter do the conversion work herself or is she looking for someone to do that, too?

Has she considered a set of those Tektro (or other brand) "interrupter" levers for the riding on the tops of the bars? Y'know the sort of 21st-Century answer to "turkey" levers, the difference being they actually WORK and are safe.

ISO: 47cm lugged frame for front parts
I'm thinking of doing a head tube "section" with about 4" of TT and DT attached.
